Jim Hawthorne brought out an interesting attendance fact during his radio broadcast last night. LSU will draw more fans in this 3-game series with Florida than they drew in the ENTIRE SEASON in Skip Bertman's first year.

I'd say LSU baseball has come a long way.

I was one of the few his first year. My family eventually purchased the weekend series season tickets. During the spring while I was young, I pretty much lived at Alex Box.

And to concur, they surely have come a long way!

I remember going driving up to BR on a Sat or Sun, walking up to the Box at game time for an SEC team, & being able to buy grandstand tix & just walk right in. Back in the early 80"s, there may have been 200 people at the game. It sure has come a long way. THANKS SKIP!

I went to a few games in the 80's because the Box was the best place to study and do your homework since it was so quiet.

It has come a long, long way. Actually, Skip Bertman did more for NCAA baseball than anyone else and historically, he will leave a mark on this sport as great as Bear Bryant did with Alabama football.

Yeah, Skip made baseball relevant in the SEC. Baseball was pretty much non-existent in the SEC in the 80's and even early 90's at most places. Now every school takes it seriously and this mindset has spread all across the country. Skip has without question done more for this sport than anyone else.

My dad brought me to my first game in 1983 when I was 7 weeks old. He said there were about 300 people at the game. I think that may have been pre Bertman but still impressive to see what LSU baseball has become.

This being Mothers day and all do you all think it will effect the crowd or the fact that we won two of two makes it not as attractive. I say get the third win or sweep I should say and then worry about next week. Please come out support the tigers today. Fill the Box and make a lot of noise.

I know it being Florida and all it is a big series, but how is this beating the attendance for the opening game? I just would have thought that the first game at the new box would have held the record at least until the super regional.

I think that's an understatement, l.a.t.

Before Bear, there was Knute, Pop, Stagg, etc...

Who the hell was there before Skip?
