I know it's all about the benjamins... but it's a shame that CBS can decide the game time the week of a game. If a SEC team is kick arse, if they want, CBS can pick most of their games to kick off at 2:30. It's only when a Tulane or ULaLa is on the schedule are we guarenteed a night game. For most schools, not an issue. TS is different at night and being held hostage to CBS deciding the week of a game what the kickoff will be can be disheartening.

Sports programming is cheap compared to other types of produced programs. CBS should have more night games than reruns of CSI.

Just my opinion....

I could be wrong here, but doesn't CBS always announce their schedule the Monday that is 12 days before kickoff? In other words, if LSU-UF gets the primetime game at night, will it be announced Sept. 28th?

In which case we beat Miss. State, then it is almost certainly a lock?

It isn't official until there is an official press release from LSU, Florida, CBS, etc.
The LSU game may not be "official", but my original post simply said it was "announced" that CBS is picking up that game (which it was in several articles).I never used the word "official" to say LSU was playing. I used the word "official" to say CBS officially has a double header, per their website (and which you questioned).
Now, given that CBSsports website is counting down to the LSU/UF game, one could argue that looks kind of "official" that they are broadcasting the LSU game.

IF LSU were to lose to MSU and UGA (or Florida were to get upset at Kentucky), and Alabama and Ole Miss were both undefeated, then don't think for a second that CBS's plans could change.
I completely agree and stated exactly that in a previous post in this thread. We don't know what TIME the LSU/UF game will be played. My post above stated that CBS is giving itself option to put Bama game in primetime if LSU or UF loses. I never said the LSU game was "announced" as primetime, I said it was announced as part of a double header. The time is yet to be determined.

If we beat State, and Florida beats Kentucky, its almost a lock for CBS primetime. Doesnt matter what we or Florida do the week after because the game time will be announced next Monday.

Not to be picky, but you said:

CBS has already announced that they are broadcasting the game as part of a double header that weekend

this isn't true. There is no official announcement that the LSU game will be on CBS.

Bottomline: is isn't official yet.

It's official. It's just not irrevocable. There's a difference.

What I said was true. Not to be picky, but I never once said it was an "OFFICIAL" CBS announcement that LSU was playing in the game. "Official" is your word. I simply said "it was announced by CBS" which the VP of CBS did. You asked for a link, I provided one quoting the CBS exec. You then said that announcement was not "official" enough for you. If you took me saying "it was announced" to mean an "official" announcement, then sorry.
Symantics I guess.

Although I think the CBS countdown clock to the LSU game is official enough for me. But hey, please ignore the CBS Executive VP, ignore the LSU countdown clock on the CBS website, ignore the official double header listed on CBS. You are right, we have no idea what time or what station the LSU/UF game will be played on until CBS makes an OFFICIAL press release a couple of weeks from now. Better?

Not necessarily. CBS can make their decision the Sunday before a game they want - especially when there is only a 2:30 CBS game. They could wait until Oct 4th after LSU/GA to decide.
