If LSU were play a game tomorrow, and JJ got hurt, JL would go in

After spring and fall practice, the fans are expecting Garrett to assume that role.
quote:Not This
I do not expect Garett to beat out JJ even though from what I hear

by process of elimination if hes in this pic that would have to be him..
sad part about it is there are dumbasses on this board that prob think the dude in maroon shirt is him.

yeah it took me some time to figure out which one he was, to the OP's question, yes JL will be the back-up QB, alot of people forget he didnt start playing football until his junior year in high school so he is still learning how to play the position, he may have the most upside out of all our QB's, he just has to put it all together.

maybe he should be studying film instead of playing beer pong?

That might have something to do with it to.

count me as a "moron" then because I think CG will be #2 coming out of spring.
Posted on 2/15/10 at 7:11 pm to pilsnerpusher
Garrett is going to be #2.
I hate to say it but I think that JL will never again play meaningful minutes in an LSU uniform.
I give him alot of respect for honoring his commitment to LSU though. Most guys would have transferred a long time ago.

So if JJ gets hurt in the 1st qt vs UNC you are willing to put your money on CG coming in to take over instead of JL?

There are already reports coming out saying that CG is more capable of being a starter than JJ. So if JJ is #1, then I think that CG will definitely be #2.
I have to reiterate that I think JL deserves another chance, I just dont think that the coaching staff has any confidence in him.

yes, that is where my money would be. I'd take that bet in a heartbeat and I'm not a gambler.

TIGRLEE I may be confusing you with someone else but I think I remember you as a reasonable poster and I can understand your skepticism.

I am reasonable and CG may very well be a helluva lot better qb than JL.. however Id like to at least see him in some sort of meaninful action before we automatically move him in to second place.
I know hes gotta play for that to happen, but I just dont see it happening as long as JL is at LSU.
FWIW Im not big fan of JL or JJ.
So Im all for the guy.

Jordan Jefferson, who started every game last season except one (LA Tech) as a 19 year old sophomore, returns for his junior season and will enter Spring practice as the starting quarterback. In the 2009 season, Jefferson completed 182 of 296 passes (63%) for 2,166 yards and 17 touchdowns, and only threw seven interceptions. Jefferson also rushed for 415 yards on 112 rushing attempts for a 3.7-yard average. The down side is that Jefferson lost 245 yards because of sacks due to a very underachieving offensive line and Jefferson's trouble perceiving pressure and quickly spotting open receivers. With a year of experience as a full-time starter, a much improved offensive line, and a stable of outstanding running backs, Jefferson could be one of the top two or three quarterbacks in the SEC.
The big question is whether Jefferson will be able to hold off 6'4", 225, redshirt freshman Chris Garrett who was outstanding during LSU's practice for the Capital One Bowl against Penn State. Garrett has a strong arm and is very smart. The big question concerning Garrett is his foot speed and ability to run the football. Also in the mix is junior Jarrett Lee who started several games as a freshman and was outstanding in the second half of the Auburn game, but had problems the remainder of the season throwing interceptions. Lee came to LSU highly recruited out of Brenham, Texas and might have been thrown into the fire before he was ready because of the departure of Ryan Perrilloux and injuries to Andrew Hatch. Lee came under a lot of fire from LSU fans because of throwing interceptions. I admire Lee for sticking with his comittment to LSU.
