Why would you use a home run hire as a smokescreen?

You have to have a potential home run hire to get a consensus on moving Les out. Most reasonable folks know that "they'll line up at the door" and "any idiot can do what Les does" are not reality. The problem is "the heavies" who try to put this stuff in motion usually have huge egos (Jerry Jones wannabes) and can screw it up, reference Auburn's plane-gate.

The fear is that it's easy to wink and nod your way to a verbal agreement with an agent, but when it comes time make a commitment, the home run decides to stay where he is...next thing you know we're watching the press conference where Tuberville is being named the next coach at LSU.

Yep. Chip Kelly to LSU. Presser @ 4PM Thursday.

Imagine our offense in Chip Kelly's offense! Holy Smokes!

AND, .... with our defense we'll need to score a lot of points. We'll start looking like the Big 12 and Pac 12. Besides, we already have the QB's that fit that style of offense. I think the slow down pace of LSU's offense hurts Brandon Harris's & other QB's potential.

Chip Kelly would be a bad hire. He would not be able to implement his scheme instantly at LSU and fans would not wait around for results.

You people really don't understand how hard it is for that type of scheme to be implemented even with LSU's talent. It took him years to get it done in Oregon and look at the Eagles. He doesn't make any sense with LSU philosophy. At all.

Saban was the first name that came out on the Bama job!

I'm not a fan of those gimmicky spread offenses. They don't work in the SEC. TAMU doesn't fool anyone but shite teams. Superior athletes shut it down. If you want that type of scheme you have to implement a lot of power in it. I'm not sure Kelly is willing to do that. Urban Meyer's spread scheme dominated the SEC because it was like the best of both worlds. You spread them out but you still have power implementation. CUM has a lot of power behind his spread schemes. You need to be physical in the SEC. You can't finesse your way through with superior athletes. The trenches are where it starts and ends.

Maybe but I haven't really seen him trying power schemes in his offense. I admittedly haven't watched all Eagles games but what I've watched he doesn't use Murrary well...at all.

If he was willing to understand you need power to win the SEC then I'd be down for the hire. I'm not saying he's a bad coach I just don't think his philosophy works here and it would take a few years to get results at LSU.

east/west running doesn't do much in the SEC

Is that what it was? That's exactly what he does now and at Oregon. That's why Murray had trouble getting his feet going this year early. That's not what I'm talking about with power schemes. I'm talking about dominating in the trenches with runs in the teeth of the defense. Running east/west will definitely get you ate up in the SEC. It works only on teams who don't have the speed or athletes to get to the edge. I'm not saying you can't do that but you have to run in the heart of the defense with power.

If he ran Fournette like he runs Murray he would be completely wasted.

Nothing points to Jimbo leaving FSU. How often do we see coaches in wonderful situations leave for a lateral move. Now we view it as a move up and if you weigh all of the factors. It probably is a slight move up, but its not cut and dry. Both programs are easily top 15 programs in the country. Unless their is a personal conflict with the administration at FSU why would you leave? I would be thrilled to have Jimbo and hope it happens. I just think its a smoke screen for someone else.

You are 100% correct!

I am the new HC. We will have kegs on the sidelines and open tryouts for QB.

Going to run the triple option, I-formation spread attack. The fumblerooski will be our bread and butter play!

As Hanagriff pointed out on his Tuesday show, this is EVERYWHERE in football.

He'll come if he wants to and make more money and be back in BR. It has nothing to do with not getting along with AD's. That is part of it.

Ponchy search user name DALSU. His posts have gotten whacked and then added back. Lots of info. last I read it seems that the 48 hour "waiting period"/counter offer period passed and it's a done deal.

IDK. My stomach is sick over this. There needs to be a change and I want football to be fun again but I'll miss a lot about Miles.
