I've watched Jefferson for 4Years. All you have to do is compare the A&M game to this years NC game for all your answers. We got the slow, indecisive pouty faced JJ in the NC game. It's the only NC game he would ever play in and he did not leave anything on the field. He can only blame himself with over a month to prepare.

Very good analysis - let's face it, we haven't had a top flight QB since Perrilloux - I believe we have one now in Mettenberger!

one key point he missed (I think, I read this several weeks ago) was that Bama's defense wouldn't have been in the same scheme had Lee been in because he was no threat to run on called passing plays.

I agree. If JL was in Bama no doubt would have put on a heavy rush and blind side blitzes.
both true, but we could also max protect to keep him clean..

His game against GTech was pretty good also and I was holding out hope that we might see something like that kind of preparation and performance. But your last statement says it best.

It seemed to me that they were stacking 9 in the box all f'ing night and just reading JJ's eyes.
The J-Swag's eyes looked just like the black guy in the row boat during the Judge Smails boat christening sequence in "Caddyshack."
Caddy fans will know exactly the scene I'm talking about.

in case you have forgotten this is the TigerRANT .. if you don't like people ranting about the crap that went down on 1/9 then don't read the damn topic - go read the posts of the "sunshine pumpers" and make yourself happy.

JJ has had some great games. The bottom line is what is in his head. He has all the physical ability to be much better than his NC performance. JJ has never been a player to carry the team on his back. He's more looking to ride the teams back for a win.

JJ has never been a player.
That is more accurate.

This. If Lee is in they're playing man underneath the Cover 2 or playing a Tampa 2 and having the MLB carry Peterson through the seam.
quote:
The safety does not commit until JJ actually throws the ball.. he was the same distance from OBJ & DP .. until the ball was thrown.. he would have tackled either one of them.... i guess the author thinks the safety would have been easily looked off, but I doubt that.. maybe a pump fake & then hit DP.. but if he does not bite, then no one is open.
The author does a decent job breaking the play down, but his conclusions afterwards are a little off.
First of all, unless you have Vernon Davis or Jeremy Graham, no one pumps a WR to hit the TE on the seam.
Secondly, he mentioned that Jefferson might have determined pre-snap that he felt the front-side safety was in man on Peterson. If this was the case, then he should have immediately locked onto Peterson early on to bring the safety inside. Then you hit OBJ on the outside. That would've been the correct read.
