Cajun LSU Man,
Why the hell would you start a thread like this. Then you positigers complain about too much negativity on this board.

he threw more touchdowns in the second half of the year than he did in the first half, he took less sacks in the second half than the first also.

Making a list of all the naysayers to see witch ones will just make another excuse. "Well, JJ had a good season but if he would have been more of a leader we could have won 11 games instead of 10". Wished coaches had a clinic for ranters. Then they might know what they think they see.

Oh... throwing mechanics is his problem not scheme or other obvious short comings of the offense. I bet you BG can coach QB mechanics? Tim Tebow's mechanics didn't stop him.

he was up and down for the most part, lots of it has to do with the playcaller/playcalling. he had some good games, washington, auburn, arkansas, i thought he was having a very good game at alabama until he was injured. time will tell but im looking at the first 5 games of next season to see where he's at, LSU can win national championships with jefferson at QB as long as crowton/miles settle down and start giving the offense better chances to be successful. offensive line also has to play better, they were downright bad at times in 2009.

with the exception of the ole miss game, it did get better, so please dont act like he didnt get better because the stats suggest otherwise.

JJ continued to make the same mistakes in game 13 as he did in game 1. In fact, the first two games were probably his best. When you don't have a tutor, or a mentor you tend to retract when you make errors. This has been seen over and over with Lee and now JJ. The way the offense is run with either of these two QB's will limit LSU's offensive production.

Until LSU gets a reasonable coach for the QB's you can have all the stats in the world to support your argument but the problem is....the offense is limited by the QB's. Crowton runs the offense he believes his QB's can run.

This is something that will not change next year either unless there are changes made in the coaching of these QB's.

the stats suggest a marginal improvement in TD's and sacks, certainly nothing to be overly excited about...our offense as a whole still sucked

I would say he had marginal improvement.

While most of the things in your post are true, the fact still remains that while JJ wasnt an All-American, he did improve, and played decently even with the bad circumstances(bad play calling, bad o-line, no running game), and in my opinion the arkansas, auburn, and the first half of the Bama game were his best games along with the first two.

A stretch, since he was up and down. Again, his best game was his first, or second. He would look like an improved QB for two or three drives , but would fall back for the rest of a game. He was good for a couple of drives per game. Inconsistency isn't improvement.

Again, look at the bad circumstances he had to deal with, you think any other QB, besides a superstar would be able to be effective under those conditions?

Only thing is we didnt seem to have much a problem in 2007.
So with that fact in mind Im gonna have to disagree with the above statement.

We had a senior QB who was a confident leader. He didn't look lost and confused after almost every passing play. Crowton's scheme worked well in 07 because no one knew what to expect, he has been figured out and does not change his scheme at all. He continues to force plays that don't work. I really don't understand how you think that coaching is not a problem when our QBs are not confident and look totally confused all the time.

Irrelevant when discussing objective QB play. Of course there were many factors that went into it, but the fact is LSU is in a QB quandry. The offense is horrible, a recruiter and OC who have no faith in the QB's and QB's who are not learning in the system because the coaching is so poor.

Doesn't change the fact that the QB play is poor.
