what I am saying is don't run them every other play b/c your QB can't complete anything else downfield. If I had confiedence JJ would be able to complete, on a consistent basis, passes 20+ in a game, then maybe run it more than once or twice. That play HURT us b/c of how often we ran it last year. Teams crowded the box and destroyed it due to JJ inability to checkdown and call something diff.

Too bad we were not UT right? We almost beat bama b/c charles scott was a mule and our D played the best they did all season.
LET ME SAY IT AGAIN. Those slant plays do not work when the opposing team's D is crowding te box. It is the same reason why running up the middle doesn't work. Other than Trindon we had no speed running backs (ones that could get to the edge). We ran trindon on end arounds opposing teams picked up on that. The COACHING staff calling variations of the same 3 plays will NOT WORK IN THIS CONFERENCE! The opposing coaches are TOO good. You either have to be much more physical than your opponent and run up their gut like Bama did last year and we did in 2003 and play solid D. or you have to have a QB that can make things happen 20+ yds. It is in the clinch that we need JJ to hit those consistently. Teams have to know you can throw it downfield.
