re: Kevin Faulk Drug Charge

Kevin Faulk pleaded no contest to misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Faulk will be given a one-year supervised probation. He will also serve some community service. It's uncertain if Faulk was in the league's substance abuse program before. If not, he should avoid suspension.

I think the plea was this week, which is why the article was in the news today. I suspect that the commissioner was waiting for the charges to be resovled before he got involved. That has been how he has handled other infractions by people who are not repeat offenders.

This is really disappointing. I've always been a fan of Kevin's. I hate to see this.
I will never understand why people think marijuana is a moral issue. It's no worse than drinking and arguably not nearly as bad. It's not a performance-enhancing substance, so it's not any kind of sportsmanship issue. If it's simple possession, it's only a misdemeanor, and even that is a complete joke of a law.
Kevin Faulk loses absolutely no credibility or status in my mind over this silly bullshite.

It is illegal
Big deal. In Iran it's illegal for a woman to show her hair. In Nazi Germany it was illegal for a Jew and a Gentile to be married. In pre-Civil War America, it was illegal to harbor a runaway slave.
Illegal =/= immoral.
Sometimes the LAW is immoral.

Some of you guys really need to go buy a real life somewhere. This is real real real old news.
This is nothing new about kevin...people who know about these things realize that this was true from highschool. Im not being critical because I don't personally smoke anything..Yuk!
But, really....this is old news! 10 year old news!

so your telling me that just because something is illegal by law, makes it wrong and he is a bad person giving LSU a bad name. There are plenty of things that are perfectly legal that are worse than smoking pot and yes LSU graduates do them as well, an example would be the LSU athletic department making us use toonces as the official logo. You want a real crime how about oil prices or the Louisiana state legislator doubling its salary when the rest of us struggle to pay gas prices and the rising cost of living. And i can name a handful of ex LSU athletes that smoke pot.

Did "Phil" just say Yuk!??! Wow, judging people for 10 year old news, while you act like a 10 year old? Amazing!

It makes me sad because it reflects poorly on LSU.
No it does not. It may reflect poorly on Kevin, but stop with this kind of crap. Please explain how this reflects poorly on LSU? Did LSU supply him with the weed or something?

Just because it's old news to you doesn't mean that it's old news to anyone else, and today was the day they printed it in the ADVOCATE so that's why we are discussing it o.k. Oh, by the way.... how do you buy a life?

The funny thing to me is how many people defend smoking weed because they either smoke or like it in some form or fashion. I personally don't think it makes Kevin a bad person and would not condem him for it but the simple fact that it is illegal makes it wrong to do and he shouldn't go unpunished. He will do what they ask him and move forward with his life and career but it's just a shame how many people defend something that is illegal because they like it.
Driving drunk is illegal but I know people that have done it and will do it again, these same people bitch when they get a DWI and have to go to jail and pay the fines. How stupid can you be to do something that you know is against the law and just because you like it get mad that you get in trouble or that other people get in trouble for it?

I defend it and I never touch the stuff. If my life depended on being able to acquire some in the next 24 hours, I would probably die.

No it doesn't. The law is bullshite. That happens sometimes. People are stupid. They elect other stupid people to make laws. Those stupid people make stupid laws. Violating stupid laws is not wrong.

He won't, but he should.
quote:

Yeah, like those assholes who defended harboring runaway slaves before the Civil War, and those immoral bastards who defend the rights of Christians to practice their religion in places like Afghanistan, where it is illegal. A real shame, huh? After all, if a fricked up government makes a fricked up law, it's morally wrong to oppose it, right?
You're an example of why we have idiotic laws like this.
quote:
How stupid can you be to do something that you know is against the law and just because you like it get mad that you get in trouble
Exactly. Like when Mr. and Mrs. Griswold back in the early 20th century wanted to have sex without having babies, even though the law prohibited the use of birth control. How stupid and evil they were! Too bad they couldn't have been smart and moral like you. Then we'd all be prohibited from such illegal (and therefore immoral) practices! Oh happy days!
