LSU couldn't score many points on LA Tech's defense anyway. The puke & purple just doesn't have the kind of QB that could hurt us. Against Auburn, they scored less than half the points that ULM did. Consequently our offense wouldn't have to score much.
Can't argue that logic

Yet they are too afraid to play ULM.
That was made as a facetious remark.
I know Tech's not afraid of ULM, but it does appear they feel too superior to play...even though it would be one of the top draws at the gate each year.

I'm neither.

I graduated tech but i bleed purple and gold. I pull for ever louisiana team each year. Ull last year in their bowl, tech in theirs, and lsu in theirs. Sadly tulane has been irrelavent since shawn king.
Hell i even pull for the louisiana teams in the fcs playoffs each year.
I was at lsu versus tech in 09 and i was pulling for lsu but would have been happy if tech had won.
Last time tech played ulm tech won by 3 i believe so no superiority complex if you ask me.
Go louisiana this week now if the saints can get their shite straight.

Tech doesn't play ULM because ULM has sucked for so long and there has been no interest in the program in North Louisiana. Tech competes with ULM (because the campuses are so close) for butts in the seats. It does Tech no good to help conjure any interest in their program.
Now if they can stay good, get some interest in the program, win a few recruits from Tech, then Tech will probably play them again.

Tech should play ULM for regional interest but that won't happen and it's not because Tech is a superior school that's a bunch of bullshite. They don't want to try to compete against them and would rather believe a Boise less WAC is cream of the crop..which is is also far from reality.

Why didn't CUSA choose ULM for membership instead of Tech? Was ULM (or ULL) even considered by CUSA?

I graduated from NSU years ago (it was a money thing) but I've have always bled purple & gold.
I like to see our state teams win as well - FBS or FCS - but when NSU played LSU last season, IF (and that was a humongous if) NSU would've won, I would not have been happy...not at all!

I would be in favor of a Tech v. ULM or ULL game each year. I agree that we need some of those regional rivalries to boost the interest in the program. However, I feel Tech is better than NSU or McNeese...but I wouldn't be against playing those teams ever so often. But being part of the UL system, Tech should be playing at least 1-2 of the UL schools per year. But if we can pull it off against aTm, then I'll be happy with that gamble.
The UL system just cannibalizes itself and will never compete with LSU because of this reason (especially regarding athletics). The schools, especially in North LA, need to be consolidated with facilities, funding, programs etc. in order to allow them to progress and grow rather than fighting tooth and nail versus one another. We still remain in the same old song and dance as no school wants be be absorbed by the other due to history, heritage, and brand. So, it continues...
I can say at least Tech still has a brand with refuting the ULR name proposal a few years back. Of course, Tech merged with LSUS recently and will be inducted into CUSA next year, so I feel Tech is on the right track.

I don't agree with that one, even with sarcasm included. I expect Tech to win the WAC with no contest, as all Tech fans expected before we leave the conference. The WAC was a step up back when I was there, but it was a terrible decision logistically for Tech...obviously.
CUSA is a great fit for Tech as its more regional for us and more along the lines of our competition. Just like LSU with the SEC, Tech may not win the conference each year but I feel we have just a good of a chance as any other team to do so.

What's does the conference USA have that the WAC or Sun Belt or Mountain West doesn't have?
Posted on 9/25/12 at 2:00 pm to ChuckSteak
I think the CUSA is a great fit for them but I don't think the talent level is a notch above all the other non BCS conferences in the country. All the decent teams have been invited to BCS conferences. Teams like TCU, Boise St, BYU, and Utah are migrating into BCS schools. The reason why Tech will never get a call is because you don't bring any value by being added into a legitimate BCS conference. The conference USA is a glorified bottom feeder.

Tech needs to play LSU. Otherwise they never fill their own stadium.

Gotta love the lady techsters.

Still just have to dog schools and conferences, eh?
At least I will talk smack against all other BCS conferences when compared to the SEC. However, for Tech, the better situation in being in CUSA is not due to conference prestige, but rather due to a logistical benefit. Our games on the West Coast and Hawaii with the WAC were running us anywhere from $100-150k per game. Not to mention the time zone change as well. At least playing teams in LA, TX, MS, FL makes more sense. I mean, it seems to work decently for LSU at least.
Besides, at least CUSA will offer more bowl bid opportunities for Tech with payouts than the WAC did. Even in the WAC, there were two bowl bids with one in Cali and one in Idaho...I hate that blue field BTW. It's definitely a Conference that is a better fit and does offer more opportunities for Tech to grow.
But thanks for the bottom feeder comment, it's greatly appreciated. Maybe we are not at the top of the totem pole, but we are moving along...LSU didn't get there overnight either...and then again, the Kingfish never put his seal of approval on Tech either. :P

Sorry....didn't see all those emos show up in the coding...

I believe more bowl bid affiliations and more regional schools closer to LA at least. No offense to the Sun-Belt...but CUSA has 7 bids compared to their 2...that's why I had to pull for ULL last year...which was in fact one of, if not the best, bowl games in 2011.
