I'm tired of this "do anything for him" bull. That isn't true, otherwise some of them would do the one thing Miles probably really wants. STAY

YOu don't think Simon would get better with another year?
The point is moot, he needs $$$$ to support his family now, not a year from now. His 1st opportunity he was gone; it didn't matter to him if another year would improve his draft stock. It obviously matters to our fans, but not to him.

Label it like you want. I'm no college football expert, I do follow LSU very closely, but if you read any of the sites where guys get paid to be college experts, they use words like "mass exodus". I’ve seen that used by 3 major sport networks recently.

So what's your point? All "exodus" means is a large departure of people. It has nothing to do with displeasure or unhappiness.

Only if you are looking at it from a fan's perspective. What is right for the player may not be right for the fan.
We have i believe 8 scholarship Seniors that have exhausted their eligibility this season, but the staff is recruiting upto 29 new signees, that alone should indicate to you that the coaching staff knew this "exodus" was coming; the difference in numbers would be way too difficult to manage just through normal attrition. Also, I would suggest that you peruse the commitment list and examine what positions the staff is exactly recruiting - just what needs to be restocked. 2 Jr. and 2 Sr. DE gone, at least 4 new ones on the way in the door, etc. Recruiting wise this Staff knows what it is doing.

So what? The professional journalists gave it a cute label. Only has a negative connotation if you perceive it to be a negative. This staff knew this was coming (see above posts concerning recruiting).

Minter is not borderline. He has nothing to gain by coming back. He won't have a more productive year than he had this year. He is an undersized linebacker and is at his peak as far as production. He also has his college degree. Reid has his degree and a child. It's time for him to go. He will have a good combine.

Is there anything that saint doesn't do?!
I only wish we could have given him an even longer extension.

Why is this your response to a statement that has be confirmed by players that Miles will encourage them going to the NFL if it is the best time for them to go. He doesn't ask players to stay unless it will help the player. Why is that bad?

Good God. Some of you are more retarded than a hippo trying to frick a mule. Several of the players already have their college degrees, tons of babies in the mix, poor families, and a chance for money. It really is that frickin vanilla on the surface. Also, players look at who else is leaving in the country. Minter may be #2 MLB coming out. Beats the hell out of being #15 MLB. Yall mentioned Bama boys coming back, AJ knows he wouldnt be top 3 QB, come back, move up, let his hot gf pay for shite until he makes $$$$ backing up aaron rodgers

Money and nobody wants to be Matt Barkley. Name two players that won't get drafted outside the 3rd round and would be starting at LSU next year.

The reason we have more juniors leaving is because Louisiana has more NFL talent (i.e. more players that go to the NFL) per capita than any other state in the nation. That's why our turnover is greater. End of discussion.

Plus some of those player have family's to take care of and that is the first thing on their minds, and it should be. I have no problem with players leaving early so they can support a child.

I think it's great that LSU is putting that many kids into the NFL. It's a draw for the program and after taking all of that physical and mental abuse for free I certainly don't begrudge any of them a desire to get paid while they are still young enough to play.
I just wish we were putting more offensive players into the League to go with all of the defensive players we get drafted every year.

You also need to remember that payscales have changed in the NFL. So upper first round money isn't as drastically different as it was in the past to other draft picks.
Since this keeps coming up. Let's use Simon, who is rated as anywhere from round 3-6.
Lasy year, the #65 pick signed a contract worth $760k/year. #192's contract is worth $550k/year.
So, let's average that out and say Simon will be worth $650k/year (Pick #97 last year). He would lose that by staying a year. So, he would, in turn, have to make that much MORE in his rookie contract to justify staying another year (actually more than that, because he loses a year of his total career).
He would have to jump to the mid 2nd round to make up that difference in his rookie contract. If you are a 4th-8th round pick this year, and won't be a 2nd rounder by staying another year, you should leave. Financially, it makes sense.

Fluker, Milner, and Lacy are leaving Alabama
Jockel and Moore are leaving Texas A&M
I count 3 from Alabama and 2 from A&M. We currently have 9. If Faulk leaves early, we will have twice as many as both of them combined.
