Or are you more in the "it's not just about winning or losing" camp?
I'm in the winning or losing camp but as you see, some of our brethren would preder the subjective. As in we won but looked bad, ie Washington win.
I fully understand that looking bad will bite you in the end but a W is a W just ask 2009 Bammer. Blocked FG with a penalty against a bad UT team, SEC office help with PP non pick etc.

This only happened because fricktards posing as "positigers" were predicting a minimum 30 point LSU win over UDub in this game, with no shot for it being close. I predicted a close game btw, just like I am doing vs UNC.
Probably will see the same ship jumping when/if the LSU - UNC game doesn't end up a 20 point LSU win.

But my promise to you is that if Miles fields a good looking, well prepared Tiger team- WIN OR LOSE - I will go back to being positive
Depends on what you mean by "positive".
You've been one of the most, if not the most, outspoken and upfront posters about what has kept you from being a dyed-in-the-wool Les Miles fan: his image. And I don't see his image changing all that much.
And to be honest, I don't care really all that much about who is and who isn't a fan of Miles. I am not saying you are one of these people, but I just got tired a while back of a segment of posters who I know can't stand Les Miles as our football coach acting as if results of the past 2 years have something to do with their disdain for Miles when I know they were never a fan of the guy during his 1st three years.
In fact, the posters I'm talking about in general probably wanted us to fail so the results would prove them right about the suspicions and the attitudes they've had about Miles all along and so they could come out and be more open about their disdain for Miles, right or wrong. In other words, the past 2 seasons are what these guys have been hoping would happen.

UW never had a possession in the second half in which they could have tied the game. Whenver they had the ball, they were always down by two scores. A meaningless TD in garbage time to make the final score a touchdown instead of 15 does not a nailbiter make. Despite everyone flipping out after that game, LSU won handily. It wasn't a curb stomping or anything, but it wasn't all that close either.

You must have missed the pregame prediction threads.

I call bullshite! The reason most people watch sports is for the social aspects of following a team including the interaction from both an internal and external fan base perspective. The others are assholes that bet games and bitch when their supposed favorite team doesn't cover the spread.
The way the team played in order to get to a win or loss is the thing that fans talk about around the water cooler.
So I guess, when asked about an LSU game, you simply state that LSU won or lost and no more. Again, you are full of bullshite if you say yes!

Last year's UW game was A) a win and B) nowhere near the nail biter as people have portrayed it.
The mission for Les is pretty simple: win or else. Which I think is entirely fair given his salary. Win. I don't care if its pretty, all I care about is results.

bullshite to you too sir! See above...
Why fricking watch a game if all you care about is whether a team wins or loses? You guys won't even be honest with yourselves.

If you're more concerned with impressing your friends with some meaningless water cooler talk than sure......but im more concerned with LSU winning games.

No, I just cut off the endless bitching by saying, "We won." Sure, you talk about how we're going to win the next one, but games don't stop being social if LSU is winning ugly. I'm yet to encounter an LSU fan who the next day says, "We lost but how about great we played! That was awesome!" Every fan, except you apparently would take winning ugly over losing pretty.

That's not what I said tool. Here's what I said upon exiting the game and the whole drive back from Seattle. "wow that was closer that I thought it would be". "JJ looked bad, the O was in trouble". "scary how we gave up big plays" etc. What I didn't say was fire the coach or Negative shite about my alma mater.

I gotcha, My bad. Your reference to the UDub game had nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

I agree that a fan would not say "awesome, that loss was great"...but a fan will definately say that we lost that one, but the team played well or they played their hearts out.

whoa...someone picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue.
i'll say this....i was extremely happy at the end of the Troy game. Because at the end of the game i wasn't thinking "man, we should beat that team by 20."....i was thinking "Holy shite! what an awesome f'n comeback!." A W is a W is a W.

quote:No, it referenced the talk of the UW win being ugly, just not the predictions. I'm actually challenging the assertion that UW win was as bad as people say, which is the underpinning of the argument.

You're arguing that people made crazy arse predictions and then were disappointed when the game was close. I'm arguing against the second part of that proposition you made: the game wasn't really that close. So, yes, it was relevant to the discussion at hand.

The ludicrous predictions of "if LSU doesn't win by 30 points I will never post again" ..and there were many of this type....showed the fanbase had unreal expectations. Many do this year as well. Few predicted UDub would stay within 20.

Good enough, so simply the fact that LSU won that game was not the only important factor to you as a fan? The trends that preceded and followed that game were of importance to you as a fan?
I absolutely care about the way the team plays and the way the coaches prepare these young people to play the game. Unfortunately there are too many bullshite artists on this board that act like there is no place to question either.

I was perfectly happy with the Washington game, and the Vandy game...started getting worried after Moo U, just like I did in '08. One game doesn't make a team, but trends that become prolonged are very worrisome. Many problems in game one were still present in the final game vs PSU.
