I wouldnt classify him as great until he succeeds at a big school.

discipline....saban, blows his wad in the first half and his team slacks off in the 2nd, typical happened at lsu, happens at bama, tressell, laughing right now at that name, didnt they fall behind to troy and had to come back due to discipline on the field, same as lsu...hmmm, joke, no arguement here.....

i would like to see miles go to a small school like boise state that has never done anything in football and lead them to an undefeated season and a win in a BCS bowl.

still no point to compare les to any of these coaches, winning a NC during your first 3 years makes you great regardless of recruits, urban did it at florida, les at lsu, tressell cant even seal the deal in a big game, happened two years in a row, about to be 3 against texas

Come on guys,we get over 50 points scored on us and over 400 yards and our coach tells us that the defense had a good scheme the coaches did a good job and outside of a couple plays the defense played well,it was the offense that had the problems though they scored 38 points .You may consider that a good coach, not a great one

Peterson inherited a pretty good program/team.

That ONE GAME was the BCS NC game, and they had weeks to prepare. There arent any excuses, they werent prepared.

Great coaches would have them prepared, especially after an arse whipping they received the year before.

Im happy with him, I remember when 7-5 was considered a good year at LSU. My freshman year we went 4-7 or some kind of shite like that.

Ding Ding Ding.

People see what they want to see and ignore the rest. Saban also had some undicliplined games at LSU.

You know, I can understand his point and I can understand any coach having a few undisciplined games....but when you have that happen in the NC game, it makes me question how great a coach you are.

I think Les is a good coach who has superior talent. He's a coach that needs a superiorly talented team to be successful (unlike Houston Nutt or even Nick Saban). But, a GREAT coach wouldn't have lost 2 games last year to undermanned opponents. I'll give him one mulligan, but not two. After LSU lost to Arkansas last year, everyone wanted to crucify Miles for costing us a chance at the NC. But because Pitt upsets W. Virginia, we BACK INTO the NC game and Miles is all of the sudden a great coach again. So Miles is a great coach because Pitt upset W. Virginia? Is that what it boils down to? B/c if Pitt doesn't upset WV, then LSU doesn't go to the NC game, Miles doesn't win a NC. Would that have changed your opinion of Miles if Pitt hadn't upset WV? If Miles didn't have a "backed into" NC behind his name, would everyone still be on his jock so much? I'm not saying he's not a good coach, but I can say for sure that he's not a GREAT coach. A great coach wouldn't have lost 2 games last year and forced a miracle to happen (Pitt vs. WV) for LSU to make it to the NC. LSU was obviously the best team in the country last year, and they still lost 2 games. Not a great coach. A great recruiter...YES, and thank goodness he is, b/c we'd really be up a creek without a paddle with Miles as our coach if he didn't have that elite talent.

I do not dislike Miles, but I have never seen DISCIPLINE on his team, as shown by the MANY penalties we incur.

That's learned thru discipline in practice and coaching.

Also, a lot of mismanagement of the game clock.

Last year he made a decision of 2 DCs...that's learned in Business 101...NOTHING is to ever have 2 heads of equal responsibility and authority. That has shown me that he can make poor management decisions.

As far as winning in 2007, we got into the game by LUCK and it just so happened that OSU was a rushing team, had we played a passing offense, we would have gotten killed. In addition, the personnel on the field was not fully training by him and his staff....a lot of old players.

IMO, the jury is still out as to whether or not he can coach.

Basically, that's what an LLC is. But anyway, I get your point and agree.

Les Miles has lost at least two games every year he has been here. Excluding this year he has had the better personel in every game we have played (minus uf). His boneheadedness is good for two losses every year. Fortunately it didn't cost us last year. I think he is a really good coach who is capable of being a great coach if he would let his ego get out of the way.
