Fla State is higher rated than LSU.
The OC hasn't been the problem since 99.
Both Jimbo and Crowton are excellent in their profession. Neither coach defense.

In our particular situation, hiring two DCs only told me that neither one of them could do the job

Well shite if you want to talk ideals...
meanwhile, in the not so perfect world, the two sons I work in an LLC for have the same problems that LSU has on defense right now. One says to do one thing, the other says to do the other thing, and when one's idea is causing problems, he refuses to accept responsibility and points the finger at the other. Meanwhile, the other does the same thing - and in the middle, you have a bunch of employees frustrated and scratching our head because shite rolls down hill and the peons get thrown under the bus usually.
So, yeah...I was dead on. I speak from experience. And friends and colleagues that bitch to me about their job have the same issues.
So, to answer in the "Business 101" remark...I was close. Very close. Almost dead on perfect. Thanks though.
In fact, the frustration I apply towards the co-def coord situation at LSU is based entirely on the practical application of the clusterfrick that it causes out in the real world. In other words, I can completely empathize with how the players probably feel in that situation.

I hope so but the jury is still out on him. I want to see how his recruiting classes fair out. I'm scared when I look at some of these players he recruited. They don't play at a SEC level with the intensity that makes you a top tier team. Don't give Les Miles any free passes. We can't be satisfied with mediocrity. The Team got worst as the season progressed. It really scares me and I don't see anything changing soon. Poor talent evaluation!

Ivan, why are you bashing Coach Miles so much? Just because he had one bad year with? Just look what he had to play with at the QB position. I think that problem will take care of itself willJefferson as our starting QB for next year.
Ivan, I will give you one thing tho, I don't think the Defense played up to par tho. I think it was because of the Co-D. C. Coach Miles is dealing with that problem as of now. So I think next year LSU will be much better.

Is this seriously your argument. Fans like you are the reason Auburn is where they're at.

I have never thought Miles is a great coach.
That being said, I think it is too early in his tenure to say one way or the other.
A great coach always puts his players in the best position to win the game. I don't think Les does that.
Some talk about Les and his big balls. Well, I talk about Les and his stupid decisions. In 2007, we won the NCG. We got lucky. We lost two games that we should have won. He takes too many big chances.
Most times you don't make all those plays. He reveiwed some plays for marginal changes that could have cost the tigers a needed time out. He goes for it on fourth down when a FG or punting was a smarter call.
In short, strategy wise, he is not good.
His teams are not disciplined. I think there is too much showboating and not enough teamwork.
I think 2007 was a magical season where all the luck went his way and everyone who had to lose, lost for us to back into the NCG and play a very overrated OSU team.
Les Miles is a good coach. His great recruiting helps cover up his other shortcomings. While he is not going to get you into the national championship game, he will be in the hunt every year and we will get lots of great press because preseason we will always look rock solid.
Now all that being said, I think les could be seen as a great coach. If he gets strong great coaches and coordinators, he teams could be great.

Way to early to call great. He had a great stretch from 2005-2007 but it takes longer than 3 years to be great

i would say a coach who has trouble getting his team to show up in the 1st half of games could not be considered great

what do you base this on?
in his 4 years here, has any of his teams lived up to their full potential?
ok let's say the last 3 years due to katrina in 2005
2006: no
2007: no
2008: hell no

or he couldnt have managed the talent he had when he got here till now
So it's impossible to manage a team littered with NFL talent unless you're a "great" coach? I guess the fact that he doesn't have as much talent now and is blowing it game after game is just irrelevant in the whole "great coach" argument, huh?
Yes, I'm a negatiger, hate LSU, love Alabama, and root for USC.

that's why I said that such WILL NEVER work.
...you made my point.....setting it up so both have the same authority and responsibility in the same area ...is a train wreck and the train is coming 'round the bend.

It seems that we put enough points on the board and this is more of Les's area than defense. If we ever get that really good DC, we'll be alright. Pelini was good, but it seemed like his scheme got figured out and got even worse with his two understudies.

+1
That team was the best in LSU history and terrible coaching turned it into a 2 loss team.

I'm not trying to bash Les Miles. I just call it the way I see it. I'm a LSU fan and I will always be one. I didn't expect us to go undefeated or win back to back championships but what I witnessed this year
was totally embarrassing. I never viewed Les Miles as a great coach even after we won the National Championship. We underachieved that year as crazy
as it sounds. The Embarrassing losses to Arkansas and Kentucky told me alot about Miles. Just because we are fans doesn't mean we cannot be critical of our team. We should demand greatness.
