17-9 & 8-8 is considered elite? wow, some standards you have
no just my standards...nationally the LSU football pragram is elite. what is funny to me is the word mediocre. I guess this is what i am setteling for, mediocre. You mean we have finished in the "middle" of the country in the past 5 years...even once? to finish where we have IS ELITE!!!

Heaven forbid I lose credibility with a Gloom-and-Doom fan. OMG! Cholly Mac was "fired" in 1979. Stovall got fired next. Arnsbarger was good for til 87 and then the bottom fell out.
The bottom fell out in 1989. TEN YEARS after Mac was gone. Are you seriously suggesting that letting Mac go caused a downfall TEN YEARS LATER? I know you're not that stupid because nobody is. If not, then why would you make such an idiotic claim?
quote:
"Bad" is relative. Bitching about a coach is going anywhere sounds stupid to me.
If people didn't bitch, bad coaches would never be fired.
quote:
OL...you think "we" have any power? and by "we", you mean YOU.
Thousands of fans do have power, even if no single one of them does. When a coach loses support across the spectrum of the fan base, he usually gets fired. The more support he has, the longer he stays. Supporting him keeps him here longer and hurts LSU. Idiots who say I support LSU and whoever is coaching at LSU are the problem that has always plagued this program. At truly elite programs, they support the program by getting rid of coaches who hurt it. At LSU, we help the idiot keep hurting our program. That's why they're elite and we're not.
quote:
I'll agree he isn't worth the money but still is a good coach who needs to do better.
So, you're willing to settle for a "good" coach who isn't doing as well as he should? That's good enough for LSU in your mind? When is this mentality of mediocrity EVER going to die at LSU?
quote:
I'll give him a couple of more years because he ain't going anywhere anyway
He might very well be gone at the end of next season. Of course, if people still keep kissing his arse for winning 7 or 8 games and losing half his SEC games, he won't be going anywhere.

wake up, we are well respected, we are feared, we are an elite top program. this attitude is obsurd.
That'll won't strike fear in anyone....

every team LSU plays knows they better bring their best game or they will lose.
If you don't recognize that then your a fool

quote:So I guess the two years JR spent under Miles and the three years Flynn spent under Miles did not involve any QB development... I guess RP did not develop into a QB that led the team in the SEC Champ game before he went mental. I guess all the QB's on the roster should have been ready made for SEC play by their High School coach since they have failed to win a championship as underclassmen and you are unwilling to give our coaches the time it takes to properly develop a QB and play at the highest level this side of the NFL.
The failure to recruit and develop a single QB in six years.

quote:i'm not bitching & moaning, i'm just responding to the poster saying we're an elite team, which is not the case looking at the last 2 years, imo.
he's only had two mediocre seasons with his own players. you guys act as if he had multiple losing seasons. he's got two more years to straighten the ship so there's no need to bitch and moan to the nth degree

we have our first junior QB since '07 this season.

The creation of a mentality of mediocrity in which winning half the time and making excuses for the other half is an acceptable substitute for winning consistently.
This part is so full of fail i don't even know where to start.

like UF last year?
neither team played well
excuses would be "no flag thrown on a obvious off pass interference" changes some things in that game and JJ was overwhelmed by the moment IMO
cant think of another, def got Ole Miss best game, prob Bama at that point in the season, Washington's, Miss States...auburn the only opponent that didn't show up and they got run

Part of that is playcalling, for example - How hard is it to properly coach a QB on throwing a screen pass? Why can't our two best QBs on the roster (Lee and Jefferson) throw a simple screen pass effectivley when pretty much every other div-1a offense can execute a screen pass? I blame most of this on Crowton and his insane offense. The only thing I wish Miles would have done is can Crowton.
