Then when he's at Mihcigan or wherever & this doesn't happen with brand new coach X, who will you blame? You can live off the "Well, X had to fix what Miles ruined!" for maybe 3 years.
If Miles can live for three years off of the Perrilloux excuse, then I'm sure our next coach will have no trouble living off of Miles' incompetence for at least as long.

it's about a 26-28 year process, that Bama is still going through.
Or a 2-year process, if you hire a good coach.

quote:That is funny considering Saban didn't sign one in 2004 and was not going to sign one in 2005 but Miles got RP to switch. The reason we did not have an upper class QB the last two years was Saban's fault, not Miles. Saban should have signed a QB in 2004 or had one in the fold for 2005 and Miles would not have had to scramble to get the in-state kid (RP) who was a character risk. It was much too late to go after any other QB in 2005 becasue Saban had dropped the ball on QB recruiting.
He know RP was a character risk.. he should have been signing at a minimum one QB per class... probably more...

A QB signed in 2004 would not have been at LSU in 2009.

He quit two months before signing day in 2005. If he had recruited a QB for 2005, that QB would only have still been at LSU in 2009 if he redshirted and used all four years of his eligibility and didn't go pro early.
A QB signed in 2006 would have been a 4th year player in 2009. A QB signed in 2007 WAS a 3rd year player in 2009. The fact that we didn't have a quality 3rd- or 4th-year QB in 2009 is Miles' fault.

I'm pretty much in the Miles camp on most of this BS bitching bout him, to this point in time, but I can't lay 08 on Nick.
Miles took over on 05 and began recruiting and evaluating what we had and what he needed to bring it. RP and his problems came bout the same time and Les was fully aware or should have been that he had a mixed bag in RP.
As on 07 was a Miles baby, 08 was a Miles baby as well. imo

Since Miles has been here, no team has won the west more times than LSU and only Fla has won a Div more times than LSU, clown.
A product of his luck
Only a true idiot or troll would believe LSU won more Div titles than anyone but Florida because they were lucky! For my money, you are both.
Why don't you take Saban's rod out of your mouth and take your troll butt back to the Alabama board where you came from.

What "incompetence" could a new coach live off of exactly?

quote:Exactly. Most QB's are done with recruiting 2 months before signing day. The top QB's usually commit early. The only chance you have to get one that late is go after an in state guy that might like your school or want to stay close to home. RP was the only option Miles had since Saban was not in on any QB. Also, QB is the position most likely to redshirt and spend 5 years in school. So, yes if Saban would have had QB's in his 2004 and 2005 class we would have had an upper-classman QB every year from 2006 on.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down.

Look, if you people are satisfied to be permanently relegated to playing for 2nd place behind Saban and Alabama, then why don't you take your piss-poor coach Les Miles and go to some other school with that mentality of mediocrity?
Fire Miles and hire a better coach than Saban? Newsflash for you buddy, there ain't but one coach better than Saban out there and Meyer ain't leaving Florida for LSU so let's give it a rest. Miles is the best we can get for what's out there. I'm glad fire-happy fans don't run our economy.

Wrong. Our program can't go back to conceding defeat to Bama and Florida every year again. I'm sure there are plenty of good coaches, who are better then Miles, who would love a shot to coach at LSU. Miles is a 8-5, 9-4 type coach, are you satisfied with that?

Nobody knows if there's a coach better than Saban out there. But we do know there are a lot of coaches better than Miles.

Miles is the best we can get for what's out there.
For what we pay him, we can definitely get someone better than he is.
So, to confirm, you ARE satisfied to concede the SEC to Florida and Alabama, knowing Miles isn't good enough to make us better than they are, so we should not try to find anyone better than Miles. Right?
That is why we fail.

A) We didn't win more than anyone but Florida. Alabama won as many as we did.
B) Yes, it was his luck to inherit a powerhouse, with which he has managed two division titles and one SEC title in five years.

If I wanted to be a fan of whoever had Saban, I'd do that. Instead, I'd rather MY team be as good as it can be. Miles ain't it.

Good luck with that. Might as well do like Xbengal did with my prediction that he'll never beat Florida or Alabama again and put it in your sig line. Of course, like him, you'll quietly get rid of it if I'm proven right, but that's OK. I'd rather be wrong than right about Les Miles. Unfortunately, I'm rarely wrong about a shitty coach.
Les Miles will be fired or forced to resign by LSU before he ever wins another SEC West title or another game against Florida or Alabama. Put that in your sig line and smoke it.

Miles is not going anywhere for the next two years unless he has a losing season or pulls a stunt like Woods or something of that nature.
All the forum threads with sounds of mashing of teeth and pulling of hair in the world is not gonna change anything. imo

Wrong. There are no better coaches than Saban and Meyer. You get a new coach and we could get worse. I'm not willing to take that chance. I remember the 90's very very well.

fail? you guys act like we're the worst program ever. do you guys even remember the 90's. we can't win the NC every damn year. You're not going to find a better coach than Saban or Meyer and if you replace Miles we can only get worse for what's out there. Good grief LSU fans are a bunch sky-is-falling debby-downers.

maybe this is where most disagree with you. We think that by keeping Miles THEY are conceding the SEC to us. He HAS proved that he can beat them, and will do so in the future. For you to have the ultimate conclusion of the opposite is completly baseless, and nothing more than a guess. It may turn out to be true someday, but it cannot be predicted based on current information. It would simply be a lucky guess.

bullshite. For $4 million, you'd be surprised who's "available".

No, but we can go better than .500 in the SEC in two years, and we damned well should. There's a LOT of difference between winning the NC and winning three damned conference games.

Certainly not if you don't try.

bullshite. Half the coaches in the country are better than Miles.

No, unfortunately, we're a bunch of idiots who think 2nd place in a football game isn't too bad.
