My dad was there that night too. Pobably went to LSU at the same time. How old was he? Super sorry for your loss, my widower dad is 88 and I try to spend as much time as possible with him - sucks being so far away. And, thanks for sharing.

So sorry for your loss I know it too....My Dad has been gone for 28 years....I miss him still everyday.

He introduced me as a 4 year old to LSU football and in short order many other sports. He loved his alma mater!!!

Sorry to hear of your losing your Dad- 1t's going to be really tough next season without him being with you! My Dad took me to my first LSU game in 1966 and he was another LSU fanatic. I remember him being so happy when we met John Ferguson at an alumni meeting in the 80's. I lost him 2 days after driving back to Houston from the 2017 Tiger-A&M game. I remember when the 2018 season started and he wasn't there to watch the game with me and man, I broke down, it was hard. I only wished he could have lived to see last season- I cried tears of joy for my Dad at that moment too when we won the championship! But like I said, it will be difficult for you next season, LSU was an eternal bond I had with my Dad, it just doesn't seem the same without him being there with me watching the games!

Reading this really hits home. Me and my dad have had a rocky relationship since I was a teen, but we’ve gotten really close the past few years. He got really bad sick earlier this year and I was scared we were gonna lose him. Everything I had ever done to hurt this man haunted me. When he pulled through, I made him a promise that I’d spend more time with him. I can’t imagine losing my dad.
I’m so sorry, DrD. My heart goes out to you. You sound like an awesome son.

DrD is my older brother and I just knew he would be posting about dad on here. I remember dad saying that there were 500,000 people in Tiger Stadium for that Ole Miss game because many people will say that they were there and really weren't lol. He was an awesome kind and gentle soul. See you in a few days D. Drive safe. I love you brother.

Condolences, I know you miss your dad and he was a special TIGER.

Great memories of being a small boy and setting on the front porch with my dad,our neighbor and a radio listening to LSU football and John Ferguson calling the play by play. Lump in my throat just thinking back on those special moments.

So sorry for your loss.
It will hurt for a long time but you have all the memories to cherish.
A word to the youngsters on here:
My dad was 65 when we lost him; I was 36 at the time. I will be 70 this year.
Had some great memories but not near as many as could have been. That has bothered me over the years; that I could have gone to see him more often, done more with him. Same with my grandfather. I wish I had visited him more often also.
Living 3-4 hours away and with 2 kids there was always a reason not to go more.
Youngsters, spend all the time you can with them. You will thank me later.

Gone but never forgotten DrD, that was a heartwarming piece you wrote about your pops and we all know we lost a great Tiger.
Lost my cousin at age 90 last week and your piece inspired me to say a little bit about him. He was a Rajun Cajun 100% but was always there pulling for our LSU Tigers. Prayers for our loved ones and families.
