Bump.

Anyone throw out any other alternative places to watch the LSU game other than Shoal Creek?

Tiger Stadium!! It's only a 7 hour drive.

frick that - I'm not driving ANYWHERE north of MLK

The fact is that LSU fans here will never get their shite together. Short of Shoal Creek, which is about one tenth of the size of place we need to do it right. Then you've got all these splinter groups who go off and try to establish a foothold at some other location, which lasts all of about 2 Saturdays.

The old guard doesnt care, they're going to continue to go to Shoal Creek, while the rest of us cant justify getting there 7 hours before kickoff to get a seat. And we're back where we started, like every other year.

I'd feel better if we had a TigerDroppings watch party at some bar over anything the local alumni chapter can organize.

Stu, I nominate you to find a suitable bar. It'll be tough to find somewhere you don't have to get to 7 hours early on any day when UT plays before or at the same time at LSU because it will already be filled with burnt orange by the time you get there and whine that we don't have LSU on any tv's. At least Shoal agrees to give us half the tv's when both games are on.

You find a good place and we can try it out.

I'd put a call into Lavaca or Third Base or Doc's right now if I thought for half a second that anyone would show up.

Problem is, I've already been down this road, offered to volunteer my services and contacts - had a whole deal worked out with Alligator Grill - and nobody jumped on board. Next week, all I heard were people bitching about Shoal Creek again.

But if I could get enough committments from TD.com posters, I'd consider giving it one more try.

I live off of Slaughter, so getting together up north doesn't work as well for me (although if we found a great place I would certainly make the drive). Someplace centrally located would be great, but that also makes it more difficult to find a place not swamped in burnt orange, being closer to UT campus. The more I think about this, the more difficult I think it will be, but we have a month to put our heads together and figure it out. I would really love to be able to do this.

Anyone been to the Little Woodrows off of Slaughter? I really like it, but haven't been on a game day. Maybe we need to try to find a newer bar like this to go to? There will be Horns fans at every bar, but if we find one that just opened and overtake that place with tiger fans, we may discourage the horns fans there to ever come back. Then we make it ours. Just an idea... maybe good, maybe bad. What do you guys think?

Lil Woods on Slaughter is cool because they have food (the other two only have steaks on Tues and Wed). That might be an option for me midway through the season since I'm moving south, but I don't know many tiger fans who live down there or who want to drive all that way to watch the game in Mexico. Y'all figure it out and tell me where to show up. If it doesn't work out, we can go back to Shoal Creek.

Stu, thanks for the effort. If you can work at some deal, I will make sure it gets advertised as an alternative game viewing site. We are getting too big for Shoal Creek but no one is stepping up to host another site. People have always made suggestions but never taken the step of "i have a plan with this place for tvs." From past experience, people are going to want sound for the game which is probably one of the biggest issues with the bars. They can usually give us a tv or two but they can't give us the sound or they start playing music at 9 or something like that. If you have some connections, work them.

Also from past experience, I have learned that people are going to go to Shoal Creek no matter where the alumni group says to go. We have had another sites throughout the years when Shoal Creek was less than half the size it is now. And yes, no one showed up. When it comes to game viewing, the alumni group has very little power where the crowd goes to watch the game.

Personally, I will be heading to Baton Rouge for most of the home games.

Wasn't suggesting that everyone come to the south lil woodrows. I don't want to drive that far north, so I wouldn't expect anyone to drive that far south either. I only suggested that we go to a place similar... new, that may not have so many horns fans there yet... one that we could maybe make ours. That being said if we did find a great new place up north, I would certainly give it a shot.

So is there anywhere that we could agree to try...I think by getting a good number of people in one place would be better than little groups trying to start their own things. Just let me know cause I am so ready to start watching games

honestly- how many people are we talking about?

is it just you, alone, or are there friends and family?

Becasue if call down to lavaca and say I've got 6 people, they'll hook me up, but I doubt if we get sound.

At third base, they can soure different audio to differnt sections - but we'd have to come strong like Gator fans do at that place - they pack that place and make it worth it for the bar.

Count me in... every game except the Appy State game. I just realized that I am flying back from Hawaii Saturday night and will have to record the game and watch it on Sunday. I think if we all agree on a place, and show up, we could get quite a group of people. Big enough that they will certainly like us coming.

Would it make sense to put this in an evite so that we can have this a little more coordinated and get a rough head count for Stu or whoever to know how many people to plan for?

You're one of those young guys who brought like 3 bottles of Jager to the picnic last year, aren't you? I'm hanging out closer to you guys this year to "help" you drink the Jager!

I like the idea of Third Base b/c it is close to downtown...to hell with driving north of the Enfield.

Shoal Creek would be the ideal place if it were not for all the UT figs...I meant fans.

My thoughts:

F Shoal Creek
F Alligator Grill

I have seen signs at Lil Woodrow’s b/4 to host Alumni Party's, not sure how that would work on gameday(s), from the sound of it, I don't think its the same owner as the one in Houston, I wouldn't mind getting the Houston (Lil Woodrow’s) viewing party vibe. Might be worth a call, especially if we could get a good contingent of about 25 - 30 of us...

I could do 3rd Base, but they just seem too pricy on everything (Imagine the bartab the way I drink for 11 hours... ouch) They do cater to A&M fans for a bunch of events and that could pose a problem.

I live down south and don't care to drive past 183 to view a game. I will be in Baton Rouge for most all home games and only able to join for most road games and weak Non-conference games which will most likely be on PPV (TigerVision) or GamePlan...

I'm open for suggestions...

P.S. - I was part of that group that brought the Jager to the picnic last year!
