Defensively, I like our LBs and DBs—our line, especially the interior linemen, are ... well, that could get tough for us.
Drake Nevis should be ungodly this year, and we all saw what Montgomery and Mingo can do when given some PT. Don't forget that Downs was playing very well last year until injuries settled in and we got some real nice JUCO prospects coming in as well to shore up the line until our other guys can develop.
Depth will be a problem, but our starters should be solid.

I see a repeat of what I called for the 2009 regular season: 9-3/5-3
IMO, if we can get past WVU, and UNC like you predict, we don't drop 3 SEC games.

Talent level is up compared to last year. Actual competition at multiple positions. JJ and Lee both have experience now which should help cover up their shortcomings. We have Russell Shepard. More balanced running attack. Billy Gonzales to help give our passing attack another dimension. Les Miles has shown that he learns from his mistakes.

OK, dude, then here's my take:
1.) No running game
2.) QB position not optimal (can't deal with "situations that arise")
3.)New O-line (no continuity)
4.)Russell Shepard (Where is he?)
That post makes no sensePosted on 4/20/10 at 9:51 pm to CamdenTiger

J can definately get it done,if he has alot of time, and no one is covering the receivers.
And if your grandma had a penis she'd be your grandfather. ANYONE could excel if they had all day to throw to wide open receivers.

Makes no sense to you cause you can't answer the questions!!
Posted on 4/20/10 at 9:54 pm to tigerjazz61

1.) No running game
Dependent upon the O-Line, which is bigger and stronger. Spring games numbers don't mean shite because we were missing our starting DTs and MLB, but they put up gaudy numbers running the entire game.
quote:
2.) QB position not optimal (can't deal with "situations that arise")
Not optimal.. but let's see what Jefferson can do when given time. His Spring Game was affected by a huge pass rush and amazing coverage.
quote:purging Hitt and Black is going to help the line a lot as well as adding more weight. I think you'll see that in this regard, Talent > Experience
3.)New O-line (no continuity)
quote:
4.)Russell Shepard (Where is he?)
Was involved in nearly every damn play in the Spring Game for both offenses, giving an indication that we can expect to see a shitton of him this season.

You only asked one question jackass, which is also a dumb one at that might I add. Last year doesn't mean shite to this year, which is what your question is based off of

Surley you are smart enough to realize that "indications" of we as fans think should happen are far from reality of what you are actually gonna see on the field???

Kind of contradicts what your original post is all about then

Ok jackass, what's your prediction for 2010? Give us your analysis of the QB position, the O-line, and receivers, etc. Are you living in a dream world?

The numbers aren't so different between a NC QB and what we had last year.. the difference was that we had twice the rushing yards in 2007 that we had in 2009. When your O-line is undersized and serves as a revolving door, your RBs get stuffed and your team becomes one-dimensional.
Jefferson was our only semblance of offense last year and he was scrambling for his life on damn near every play.
Good stuff. I love it when informed people post on this board. Mind if I add Trindon Holliday to the offensive plus side for last year?

Your logic is flawed. Auburn will be better in 2010 as well as MS State..Ole piss will not. Arkansas will be better also, so status Quo will not result in a 9 or 10 win season..
So it's possible for nearly every team in the SEC to improve....except for LSU.

My original post:
IMHO, With no proven QB an coaching concerns, LSU football will take a significant downward turn in 2010. Tell me why I'm wrong.? And please don't respond by saying "but we have Russell Shepard" Duh!
What are you talking about???

I don't ever immerse myself into predictions because there is a large margin for error. I base my thoughts off of what I can know. What I know is that our offensive line is bigger and that a few players that underperformed last year will no longer be starting. I know that bigger lines can generate greater penetration and open bigger holes for RBs. I know that an improved running game benefits quarterbacks. I also know that a bigger line can pass protect for longer. However, I also knows that we have green WRs. All this leads me to expect a modest improvement in the offense...
What I know of the defense is that our secondary is sensational, Kelvin Sheppard is an All-SEC MLB, and our other starters have shown great things on special teams... though they have little experience in the position. I also know that we may have trouble on the D-line but that our DTs are very strong and Rahim Alem is no longer a liability on that side of the ball.
Overall, I expect our offensive rushing attack to vastly improve, our passing attack to moderately improve, our defensive secondary to impose their will on anyone they play, though we may be susceptible to the run.
All in all, considering the schedule, we'll be looking at a crisper team though I will not speculate on what this means in terms of statistics or winning %

Jazz you gotta realize that some of these people not only believe that LSU is going to win the SEC this year but that Les Miles is one of the best coaches in America...
