SFP hates life.

That's all I can come up with. Who fricking cares about last night. The players just played their biggest game of their life in a 60 minute + war. blah blah blah coaches suck.

I was at both games, and I don't remember the NW game score being in doubt at halftime. Maybe you can help me if I'm wrong-what was the halftime score in that game? Did JL play in the second half?

Our Tigers just came off of what was the biggest emotionally hyped regular season game of my lifetime. That game was a brutal slugfest. This week, they were probably more sore than they've been all season and they finally had a break from the what was a rather daunting schedule. Yes, they played flat as expected, but the game wasn't in question to me - ever.

The Hilltoppers were playing at an all time emotional high against LSU. They played their best game of the season against us. Those kids on that team will be able to tell their kids one day how they got to play in Tiger Stadium at night and they were only down by 7 at halftime. Good for them to have such.
We needed this game to allow Jefferson a lot of playing time, which we got. He hasn't had it and we might very well need it against the piglets and the leghumpers as well as the webels.

Next week is not a gimme. Ole Miss HATES us like I loathe Alabama. The only reason why some of those bastards in that state remain alive is in hopes of seeing their webels beat LSU again. They will be fired up to play us.

Wah? We run the option out of all our formations.

TOP matters depending on the circumstances. If team A can strike quickly, and team B cannot because team A is controlling the trenches, team B will likely win TOP, but lose the game. On the other hand, if team A is a ball control offense, and team B is also, TOP becomes very important. Or if team A is a ball control offense with a big lead against a quick strike team, TOP in favor of team A limits the number of scoring opportunities for team B.

Last night TOP wasn't important because LSU scored quickly, needing fewer plays, and WKU couldn't score quickly enough to make TOP a significant stat.

our offense still controlled how long it stayed on the field. we were really bad at staying on the field in the first half

First possession- 6 plays and punt
Second possession-one play, TD
Third possession- 5 plays, punt
Fourth possession- 8 plays, TD
Fifth possession- 4 plays, end of half

LSU failed to sustain 2 possessions in the 1st half, but the problem was less with the offense than with the defense, which allowed 4 of WKU's first 5 possessions to sustain drives of 8 to 10 plays. The defense did not do a good job. The offense on the other hand scored two touchdowns using just 9 plays. Maybe the offense should have slowed down?

Shouldn't LSU have their best game against a Sun Belt team?
LSU should have their best game against the worst defenses.

HALF of LSU games have been against teams with worse rankings for rushing defense:

#68 Tennessee
#69 Mississippi State
#97 Auburn
#98 Kentucky
UR Northwestern State

To answer your question more directly, LSU should have had their best game against Northwestern State.

LSU ran more times against Northwestern State but gained more yards against Western Kentucky. In fact, LSU gained over 100 more yards against Western Kentucky with fewer rushing attempts.

Means nothing, considering the competition of these teams compared to that of WKUs.

No. It's not meaningless. It's all data. You can't just disregard it.

WKU played Kentucky. WKU got more rushing yards and more total yards in that game. Kentucky barely won.

It doesn't mean nothing.

And what of Northwestern State?

Don't bring logic into this. This is the moment they been waiting for all year.

Just tell them congrats and us real fans have been here all year, just not when JJ is on the field.

You need to take a statistics class. There is a concept that if you don't have a large enough sample size, you don't reject the null. You also have to account for controls and variables. The quality of talent for an opposing defense is an independent variable.

What I do find interesting is that people were ripping on the offense for being non-productive in other threads. Lots of complaints about how we weren't effective. Just Me shows up and posts stats which show, wow, we had a really good game and offensively, and now people want to complain that it was just WKU?

Well, of course it was just WKU. But perhaps the offensive numbers this offense put up shuld slow the roll on some of the bitching about offensive production in other threads, which is barely grounded in reality.

Why do idiots on here point to OREGON has our bench mark on offense. Our qb passed for 98 yards in that game. We simply overpowered them.

The facts speak for themselves

We score 28 points in 5 mins of game time and some want to talk TOP...go figure.

We have almost 500 yds of offense and some are crying, "2010, 2010".

Personally, I was really upset that the WKU K/O yardage was bout 4 times more than ours.

And they forget that 11 wins is nothing at which to sneeze, particularly when 1 loss was to the eventual conference and BCS champs - many act like they are too good for an 11-2 season.

That and putting the ball on the ground (though we only lost 1 fumble) are my biggest concerns - not every down, offense or defense. We dictated the pace of that game - WKU had 2 very good drives. They came off of a 5-game winning streak - the team was gelling and put together a good first half performance against our less than "passionate" effort.

It seems to me a lot of people are obsessed with style over substance in this instance.
