when I was at LSU we still had our group that went to all the games whether the team was crappy or not. students need to fricking show up.
I was there during the CoCo years....he would never let the student section go to what it is now

that game wasn't shite compared to UGA in the final 4 year or Alabama I wanna see in 2005.

I usually go, but sit right above the student section. I just can't take the cheer sheets, repetitive cheers, and the attempt to trash talk. I appreciate the dedication, but it can get pretty embarrassing.
This is exactly right. The 'leaders' of the basketball student section aren't funny, the cheers suck, etc.
That makes it uncomfortable to be there, and the product on the court is crappy, I'd rather be home or at the camp

I don't think many of the old people in this thread are at many games, either. They just see poor attendance on CST and yell "WELL IN MY DAY WE WALKED FIFTEEN MILES UPHILL IN THE SNOW TO WATCH PISTOL PETE PLAY WITHOUT THE 3 POINT LINE"
It's Christmas break still. The students who are here are more likely than not working full time. No time to watch our shitty basketball team (a sport that comes third for most LSU fans) get blown out, without even a compelling personality on the team to root for.

You can make excuses all you want.

I don't know what years you were there, but you weren't getting into the lower student section at all when I was an LSU student, and that was to see superstars like Louis (Lester's shitty brother) Earl, Brian Beshara and Brad Bridgewater.
Are tickets still free for students?
Oh, and to debunk two myths:
A. Students not in school, blah blah blah.
About 10K students are from EBR. That's not counting the surrounding parishes. Can't get 100 to go to a game?
B. There are other things to do.
In Baton Rouge? On a Wednesday night or Saturday afternoon? What? Perkins Rowe?
Bottom line is that LSU fans are born and bred frontrunners. Thus, their offspring (current students) are only going to go if it's the place to be seen, and basketball isn't that.
They aren't there to support their school or classmates, they go because it's "happening."
You can look at LSU baseball attendance during last year's slide if you don't think that's true.
You see the numbers for actual LSU fans when the team is underperforming. For hoops that number is about 2K, for baseball about 3K.

yeah they are still free. up until about 2005 you weren't getting a seat in the first few rows without getting there at least an hour before tip. now you can walk in 5 minutes before and sit front row with 7 friends.

i know the support isnt that great all around, but the "student section" seats are not that great. When i was a student i never sat there. There were plenty of better seats to be sat in. When the team sucks you can pretty much sit anywhere you want in the arena. So im tired of hearing the student non support. Students go to the games, they just dont sit in those shitty seats.

Before this year they were mid-fricking court.
This year they are right behind the goal.
Where do you want the seats to be?

They should just put a row of folding chairs behind the bench.
That should accommodate everyone.

Hold on now. Most of the students are back in BR this weekend. Pretty much all of us went home for Christmas break. We'll be back in full swing.

it irks me that students don't go to games for free yet I pay to go to all the games and I don't give a shite about anything but the big 3 FWIW
So you are pissed because some people don't care about the same things you care about? That's rational. It's also pretty fricking hypocritical since you don't give a shite about anything but the big 3.
This is coming from an avid basketball fan. Who the frick cares if people show up to basketball games or not? The only thing that matters here is football. If you like going to basketball games, great. Don't let it bother you that other people have better things to do.

At home for Christmas....how hard is that to understand? And maybe the fact that we aren't very good right now plays a role in it.

You can't really expect someone that lives on Essen to make the drive to the PMAC brah
