Well I'm sure many other people have that sentiment as well. However, this isn't just a pet animal that passed away. This was a university mascot whom thousands of people saw, interacted with, and also the spirit of a large university. So, its kind of comparing apples to oranges.

He provided entertainment and joy to others. Have you seen the pictures of the kids with cancer when they visited him? The little kids with their parents? The guy known as the Tiger Whisperer who was about to take his own life, but changed his mind after visiting Mike the Tiger and developing a rapport with him? He was a symbol of a lot of good things. He was much more than just an animal.
