I love it when fans of other teams see his habitat and realize what it is to have a real mascot. And it is not just that our Mike is bigger than most teams mascots...it's that Mike takes cr_ps that are bigger than most teams' mascots!!!

The paper tigers roar at noon;
The sun is hot, the sun is high.
They roar in chorus, not in tune,
Their plaintive, savage hunting cry.

O, when you hear them, stop your ears
And clench your lids and bite your tongue.
The harmless paper tiger bears
Strong fascination for the young.

His forest is the busy street;
His dens the forum and the mart;
He drinks no blood, he tastes no meat:
He riddles and corrupts the heart.

But when the dusk begins to creep
From tree to tree, from door to door,
The jungle tiger wakes from sleep
And utters his authentic roar.

It bursts the night and shakes the stars
Till one breaks blazing from the sky;
Then listen! If to meet it soars
Your heart's reverberating cry,

My child, then put aside your fear:
Unbar the door and walk outside!
The real tiger waits you there;
His golden eyes shall be your guide.

And, should he spare you in his wrath,
The world and all the worlds are yours;
And should he leap thejungle path
And clasp you with his bloody jaws,

Then say, as his divine embrace
Destroys the mortal parts of you:
I too am of that royal race
Who do what we are born to do.

He's kind of a pussy about getting in his trailer.

A new trailer with plastic sides that match the walls of his enclosure would be sweet.

My first thought was to keep him from devouring it all at once as maybe that would be bad for him in some way. IDK

What was the peta issue?

quote:

It's incredibly frustrating dealing with these people. The point is a relatively simple one: In captivity, big cats are denied everything that is natural and important to them—companionship for one, not to mention the opportunity to run, climb, hunt, and establish their territory. But officials at LSU, who have insisted on replacing their "mascot", a Bengal tiger named Mike, with another Mike the tiger, believe that these considerations are less important than their desire to have fans enact some weird ritual that involves chanting about tigers before football games, and that apparently requires an actual frightened tiger in a cage to be done properly. Not that I have anything against weird sports rituals—I love doing the wave, or singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch—but no matter how much history there is behind a tradition, when people come to realize that it's grounded in cruelty or oppression, it's just time to find a new one. Simple as that, LSU. You can read ESPN's coverage of the story here, and if you'd like to write to LSU to ask them to put their heads together and come up with a tradition that doesn't involve exploiting and abusing exotic animals, you can do that here.

That pretty much sums up the dumbassery that was PETA.

I'm not proud to say that I live 25 minutes away from PETA's headquarters. It doesn't stop me from enjoying the fruits of the land that the Lord gave us and I salute to all 6 Mikes that have roamed Tigerland. To the baddest mascot in all the land.
