Once you forgive him for being different from Saban, it's all good. Success is sweet.

No, im sure the CS wanted to win
Then why did you say they didn't?
Apparently you don't understand the difference between having a "will to win" amd making decisions that didn't result in victory.

What is there to forgive?
Why not just enjoy Les Miles? If you are looking for perfection in a coach (or any other profession) you will spend your entire life disappointed

I seem to remember some posts from you several years ago expressing frustration that he didn't do things like his predecessor.

quote:Probably did. More likely posting frustration for him being him. I did like the discipline I felt Saban brought to LSU - at the time it was much-needed and it concerned me that maybe CLM wasn't the disciplinarian Saban had been. In the years since, I have seen that CLM has his own way of handling those things and I'm not concerned about it now. And I've watched Saban's sideline temper-tantrums at Alabama, which puts in a new light his same kinds of tantrums at LSU. I don't like that anymore and am glad that aspect of his coaching tenure is gone. I like Les' more laid-back, kinder, gentler style. At this time and in this place now, that's a much better approach, IMO.

So maybe I've mellowed?

Dumbasses don't want to hear this. They just want to bash Miles.
Posted on 7/30/12 at 4:49 pm to JawjaTigah
I don't know that Miles is more laid back. Maybe more patient and less obsessive compulsive and happier.

No fooling.
I just get a little tired about people nit-picking every little thing Les Miles does like:
1. That the could have done better
2. They have a clue about how big time football works.
3. That any mistakes he has made haven't been made many times by many other coaches
4. That repeating stale old talking points picked up in the break room or from the next bar stool while pretending that they understand what they mean somehow makes them true
I prefer to look at the positive side of things rather than trying to somehow construct some sort of macho cred by being overly critical of someone that is better at what he does than over 90% of the people doing that job. A performance grade that it is highly unlikely that his critics will ever reach.

Creative as in the "clock it" Ole Miss game.
Funny thing is, that same year there were two other coaches that had similar mishaps. Belichick and Brown at Texas. I don't actually remember what Belichick did, just remember him losing on a similar bonehead play. Brown shite the bed against Nebraska, though they put an additional second back on the clock.
But Miles is the only one people talk making a dumbass call. It was a bad way to end the game, but you learn from it and move on.

are you putting words in my threads that i didnt write? surely you can read better than that.
thats my quote. read it again gray.
if you are tired of folks getting aggravted at Miles, sit down and buckle in hoss. you are in for along arse day. I dont hate CLM. Not at all. Would I like to bitch slap him on occasion? hell yes. Would that bitch slap change anything? hell no. But i would feel better for sure.
Come to think of it, I feel better already.
Thanks Gray!

So, tell me again why he sucks.
I think there are only a few trolls left here that still claim Miles "sucks".
Most of the past bashers have toned it down to, he's not as good as Nick or I don't like the fact he didn't play my favorite QB....oh, and he's lucky.
All you need to say bout Coach Miles is that at the same time the SEC was/is ruling college football like no conference has ever ruled college football before, Miles/LSU had more conference wins, more West titles, and as many SEC titles as ANY SEC school.
I don't know of another period in LSU history that can say the same.

So a fantasy bitch slap made you feel better? Interesting. I hesitate to speculate what the result of a fantasy date with a supermodel might cause.
Of course most of us prefer reality to fantasy, but whatever makes you moan, go for it dude.

The NCG vs Bama was the worst coached game of Miles' career. Saban flat out outcoached him. Really no way around it. We didn't make a single adjustment the entire game and gave up at the end. I hated JJ and Lee and never picked a side but Lee seriously should have came back in. If Lee was deer in headlights then JJ already got ran over. No excuse for that. But I'd still rather have Miles over any coach in football. He represents the university well, he's a he'll of a coach, a great recruiter and is one of like 3 head coaches that actually have a personality. I like that and I think the players like that. How we managed to win as many games as we did during the JJ/Lee era is a miracle.

I can name something for all seven years that Les Miles did that fails more than works....and worked to his favor in every situation.
He doesn't handle pressure situations well. I have seen him get obviously confused when games are close.
You will not find one person outside of BR that will tell you that Les Miles is a great gameday coach.

Actually, I know several people that consider him exactly that. And not LSU fans either.
