Im moreso pissed off at his actions.
I dont care if billy cannon did it, id feel the same way.
This whole idea of people can do what they want to do b/c its his or her right and this america gets strewed alot of the time and the issue of whats right and wrong gets tossed to the side.
My loyalty to my country is more important to my loyalty to LSU.
I have a feeling if this was charles barkley, john wall, joakim noah, or jamal mashburn yall wouldnt be so quick to defend the guys actions.

CJ should have gone to school somewhere else,
Yeah, like maybe Tehran. Odd that we should be thankful that he went to school at LSU but you can't be sure that he didn't contirbute money to the terrorists. He certainly seems to share their views about the USA.
I cheered him when he played basketball but I booed him when he showed his lack of patriotism.

MAR paid his dues at LSU am I not correct? his jersey should be retired.
I loved Chris Jackson. Im not much on Mahmoud Abdul Rauf. Rauf is an extremist who has denounced this country. Im not calling for his head, but Im also not in favor of retiring his jersey.

what he did in the NBA has shite to do what he did while playing at LSU, when Shaq's jersey is retired CJ's should be too

I was in school at LSU when they were there so I have great memories of CJ. Im not going to lose any sleep either way on this but Im just saying his extremism will probably prevent him from having the jersey retired.

I really don't give a shite if he stands for the national anthem, but don't be a fricking hypocrite and live in the US and take in all the luxuries that come with it.
ETA: I don't support a player just because he went to LSU. Thats just stupid.

He's fine, playing the national anthem at non international sporting events is retarded and cheapens it's meaning, all people should just ignore it unless it's an appropriate playing like after a death, 9/11 for a little while or an international competition

as for as the constitution, he is well within his rights!

it's pathetic how ignorant some people are. dude was just standing for hs deeply religous beliefs
what does not standing for the national anthem have to do with his religious beliefs.
you know, my problem isn't even that he did that or some of the things he said. Prior to the "incident" he would just stay in the locker room during the national anthem and everyone was cool with it, but then he decided to do it on the court knowing damn well it would get all kinds of attention. So obviously just staying in the locker room wasn't bringing him as much attention as he thought it would. That's why i don't care for him...but i don't wish ill on him.
With that said...he was a great player at LSU and should have his number retired....but i'm not going to support someone just because he played for LSU...some of the things he said are just stupid.

Some of the people on this board are way bigger hypocrits that MAR. You people probably tout american freedom as the greatest thing about america, but you hate anyone that expresses that freedom. That's nonsense.
And to those of you hoping ill will upon the man, your self-righteous ways will earn you a spot in the eternal oven. Can you not disagree with someone without hoping they die? Since I'm sure the ignorance is coming from self-proclaimed christians, I'll tell you, that's not very Christ-like.

"when Shaq's jersey is retired CJ's should be too"
shaqs was retired several years ago, once he graduated
CJ im pretty sure never came back for more classes, so i doubt his will ever be retired, graduation is one of the requirements

It's my understanding that the NBA mandated that players not be in the dressing room during the National Anthem...if you knew the kid, you would know that the last thing he wanted or currently wants is attention.

Exactly, he would usually stay off to the side when the the National Anthem was played to avoid causing a distraction.

That's my understanding, too. I don't care for his decision to not respect the national anthem. I don't know what caused him to do this. As someone said earlier, Chris was a class act while at LSU. He represented LSU well every day. And, when he was on the court in those days, nobody could touch him. Nobody. He was the best that there was. He has done a lot of positive things for his old neighborhood, too, without publicity. He seems to shun publicity.

and that makes what he did all ok.
It doesn't make it more wrong.
While at LSU, Chris Jackson was both a hell of a player AND a hell of a person. There is not one single person that will have a bad thing to say about the time the kid spent in Baton Rouge. As such, all I can do is thank him for the memories he gave to me as an LSU fan.
When he went to the NBA and got mixed up with the muslim stuff, I hated to see it. Not because he changed faiths...as an atheist it's just one different form of crazy to me...but because it lead him to do some things which really ended his career in the US. I disagreed with his actions, but given that I knew what type of person he had been at LSU, I knew that for whatever reason he clearly believed them...so while disagreeing I respected his right to have them.
