Well I grew up during the glory years of Spurrier, and so my first impression of LSU was an also-ran, chalk up a W.

Since Saban however, I've been afraid of LSU. Miles is continuing great recruiting and coaching, and this game decides a lot of the winner of the west/east. Glad we have this game locked in year in and year out.

I think your impression of LSU was the same as a lot of people. I'm afraid to say it here on the board because he's loathed, but I really liked DiNardo. I credit him with bringing the magic back to Tiger Stadium. Admittedly, he ultimately posted a losing record, but that improved attitude continued through the Saban years and into the ML years. I think Miles will continue the tradition of great recruiting. I look forward to the day when we win big with none of Saban's recruits.

How do you feel about life under Urban Meyer? Do you think Florida will enjoy the same success under UM that they did under the offensive genius Spurrier?

Urban is a great recruiter, great motivator, and seemingly cares about his athletes a lot.

However, he is not the gameday coach that Spurrier was. Meyer can be more stubborn than Spurrier at times.

ex. 1995 NCG against Nebraska- refused to go to the shotgun. 96, the regular season loss FSU, no shotgun. Both games DW was lit up. NCG against FSU, went to shotgun FINALLY and 52-20.

Meyer and OC Dan Mullen are slow on their adjustments too. 2005 took 2 losses before we figured out Chris Leak runs the spread like a beautiful disgrace. After the L to you, we threw in some I formation and 2 tight end sets, and the offense came together a bit.

Last year and this year, we STILL won't keep a RB or TE to block in our 5 wide sets. Send 5-6 guys at Tebow, sack city.

I think Urban Meyer will do well at UF, but will never be able to dominate like Spurrier until he is able to start making adjustments to his competition. This is not the MWC or MAC, SEC defenses can figure out the spread.

Quit being a clueless college geek.

I think his post has some merit. How many winning programs feared LSU in the twenty years prior to the arrival of Saban in BR. Having lived in Tennessee and Alabama during that period gives me a different perspective.

I see what you mean. I think one of the reasons LM has had success is his willingness to make in-game adjustments. Well, that and his Lesticles.

I think Urban Meyer is pretty good. This should be a great game. Good luck, and may the best team win.

LSU is LOVED here in San Francisco. RJF and Tyson Jackson make us weak-kneed.

Urban shows he has a pair every once and a while (see SECG 2006- fake punt on own 10 yard line on 4th and 9, down 3)

This rivalry is getting good. LSU and UF pull in the most consistent highly rated recruits, and the coaches are both top notch. Good luck to yall as well.
