if we are able to rush the ball effectively, and Jordan settles in a little and keeps Lee on the bench:
14games (with SECCG) x 200 yds/gm = 2800 yds
24tds 8ints
45 runs for 380 yds
but, I really think Lee is going to throw for as much or more than Jefferson:
1,400 yds, 14tds, 8ints
with Lee going:
1,750 yds, 20tds, 8ints

the measure of a QB is far more than his passing stats. passing stats as a primary qualifier of a good QB is short thinking.
How Jefferson or whomever does the following will matter, and the passing stats will work out for themselves accordingly if he does the following:
- distributing the ball effectively
- reading the defense
- showing leadership and confidence that the team can feed off of
- checking off at the line
- knowing when to take a sack and when to throw the ball away and when to take risks
- knowing how to run an option when called
- knowing how to put touch on the ball and when to throw a bullet
- knowing how to sense pressure and when to step up in the pocket
- knowing how to protect the ball on hand offs
- knowing how to lead a receiver in traffic and in the open field
- know how to pick up the signs of a blitz and dump the ball off
- minimize the dreaded 3-and-outs
- lead the team to good down-and-distance situations
- lead the team to many consecutive first downs and scores
- etc.......
If he does these things well, things will work out. I have seen passing stats accumulated at the wrong time of the games, such a when the opponent goes to a soft coverage leaving open underneath stuff, and a QB accumulating many completions and yards when it is too late or when the team is in a hole. That is what passing stats are such a weak way to judge a QB's performance.

based on the spring game and comments by team members about summer 7 on 7 practice
Jarrett Lee will start vs North Carolina.. not JJ.
I think JJ worked himself out of a job this spring.
Just my guess. He has all summer to beat out the other guys.
If Zach Lee is on the roster in Sept, I wonder if he redshirts football?
Anyway, let's see how practice goes. I think its no more than 50/50 that JJ starts North Carolina.

Will not happen.
You don't know that. He threw for over 300 yards vs. UGA as a shaky freshman and led us back to a win over Auburn before that with a near 200 yard half.
J Lee may throw picks, but the dude has a big league arm and if his footwork improves, he will be taken one day in the draft. Hide and watch. He isn't Chad Loup or Ryan Huffman.
Just label me one who believes he will, by the 3rd game of the season, be our starter - not JJ...not Zach Lee (who we don't even know if he'll take a snap as a Tiger) or Chris Garrett (the most popular man in Baton Rouge who has done NOTHING to earn such).
I'm on that Lee wagon.

Bobby Moore has him penciled as the starter and the one who will take us to glory.

So, Dodd, do you think he's our man in '10? Or does JJ find a way to keep his job?

Only for the time being. He'll have a wide variety of different opinions after he pills out in Atlanta

22 TD, 8 INT
2400 yards
63% completion percentage

When he railed that white china off of Tigerhoney's stomach 3 years ago in Lexington, he started talking about Richard Murphy for Heisman in '08. That's when I was dismissing his opinions.

Hopefully, this year, he won't pass out and fall over the buffet line at happy hour in the hotel trying to get some BBQ wings like he did in Seattle.
I had to pick him up and carry him over my shoulder with the quickness because of the outrage of the rest of the hotel guests all upset that their snacks were all over the floor.

i am confident the lsu coaching staff will make the right qb choice b/c they've got to know they're on the hot seat this year. if JL is the man, i will support him completely. whatever it takes to get a win.
but, should the spring game and 7-on-7 count more than real-game play?
e.g., JL's latech performance last year (7 for 22, 105 yards) vs. JJ's 2009 results in most every one of the 12 games he started (resulting in a 137 pass efficiency [#36 in the nation]).
in fact, JJ's 2nd full year at lsu in 2009 produced far better net rushing, pass efficiency, yards per attempt, td to interception, and completion % statistics than JL's 2nd full year at lsu in 2008 (when they were both very young [JL a few months older in 08 than JJ in 09]).
this doesn't mean JJ should start over JL - that is up to the coaches - but it certainly supports the argument that JJ has performed mcuh better in actual games, and that should be a key determinant in who plays.
