Brad Paisly has a great song - I'm Gonna Miss Her - that touches on this subject, but with fishing as the dude's weekend passion. Keep repeating these lyrics to yourself, and good luck with the new g/f:

Well I love her
But I love to fish
I spend all day out on this lake
And hell is all I catch
Today she met me at the door
Said I would have to choose
If I hit that fishin' hole today
She'd be packin' all her things
And she'd be gone by noon

Well I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
But right now I'm on this lakeshore
And I'm sittin' in the sun
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk through that door tonight
That I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite

You hit the nail on the head. Women want to be number one. They feel threatened by something you feel passionate about (because they're scared that they're not number one). They don't understand that you can have more than one thing in your life that you're passionate about.

Don't give in. Do your thing. You've just got to make her feel like she's the most important thing in your life the other 357 days of the year.

1. I think it's one thing if you go out and tailgate and have fun.

2. It's another if you're 28, go out and get shitfaced, vomit, act like an arse and rearend some people with your car every weekend leaving the game.

Maybe she means you're #2.

I get my nuts chewed EVERY Friday before I leave Alexandria - I told my wife when she was my girlfriend that LSU Football was the one thing that would NEVER change! She will never get used to it and does not like it but oh well.... there coudl be worse things that I am doing

I married an Auburn girl and she would never even insinuate this. At least she knows where to find me on Saturdays. The friends of mine who are the most miserable are the ones that give up control for the pussy and they never get it back. The pussy get old and then life sucks.

When I meet a new girl that is dating potential, the conversation usually comes up quickly, because of the "so, what do you like to do" questions. And the way I let them know, without trying to be a douche, is to say that I have been going to LSU football games since I was 7. And I then moved to BR in 91 and haven't missed a home football game since. Me and my dad have season tickets together (this let's them know that it's a family thing too) and I am part of a tailgate that has 30 or more guests and we arrive at 7:00AM to get everything set up. We also make at least 1 road game a year and get together at each others' houses for the other away games.

Now you're set. They will either accept that as the way it will be or not. At least you have let them know early on. I know that there are more important things in life than LSU football (that was hard to say). I realize that the day will come that I will have to miss a game, or maybe miss the tailgate and get there just in time for kickoff, but it ain't gonna be because your cousin Billy Bob is graduating from HS and WE have to go to his party, or some other bullshite like that.

A couple of years ago I was talking with my brother how excited I was for the 2007 season and my g/f chirps in how she didn't care and didn't want to go to all those games. I told her she could do what she wants but I'm going. Add that with other problems and we weren't together much longer but I had a lot more fun without her there. She later admitted she liked tailgating but was just trying to piss me off when she said that. Bitches be crazy

I think you and you alone need to make a decision of your own and if you need from this board your in more trouble than tailgating or going to football games. I don't know what other hobbies you have but I watch all LSU sports watch 2 sons play baseball and play golf and have been married for a long time and not once has she said no to any of my activities. Sunday is her day but she loves sports also. We camp out about 10 times a year, fish, travel to watch our 3 children (all over 18 now) and I still would miss any of the things she like like museums, plays, opera and of shopping. To make a point you need to find a good mix on your own.

That's obviously not the woman for you.

If you were to one day marry her, she'd have the clout to make you stop.

Pitch that bitch to the curb and be glad you dodged that bullet early.

For I don't know 7 Saturdays a year she can't let you go to Tiger Stadium and hang out and drink beer with your friends all day?

That's not cool of her. I mean just reiterate to her. It's only 7x a year. That's it.

To reach a solution I don't know think of something you don't like doing with her normally and do it. Like go shopping with her and in exchange she'll let you go to games at 7 AM.

Trick is to find something she wants.

She would not be the woman for me. My gf is from Los Angeles and is a homer USC fan, but only because they are a decent team. She never says shite about UCLA. Also, her dad graduated from USC.

She has never told me anything about not going to a game, etc. I would have to tell her to hit the road if she did. I get up early and put ESPN on and do my own tailgaiting at home and watch the game on the 56 inch dlp or go to my friend's house and watch it.

Nah, I have to more realistic and more honest than that. I get your point, but in reality it's like 13 or 14 weekends a year, which is still not bad. But I am also going to watch LSU when they are on the road (if I don't actually go to the game). And an open date is a nice day to get together with the tailgate crew and watch some football without the pressure of cooking for a bunch of people or worrying about LSU losing. So, in reality, it's pretty much from 9/1 to 12/15 or so. Then the bowl game.

well i gotta finally get in on this, this story is actually about me and was started by my good friend and we discussed it last night over some chinese food at the great wall. the facts he gave are very accurate. i did indeed continue in my ways and the decisin came to either not doing it as rowdy or it wasnt going to work out, it didnt work out!! some things cannot be compromised and i didnt budge. it was the troy game to be exact. i remember a arguement that friday night over it. that was my last night there my stuff was packed and ready for me sunday morning!!

my arguement was what most of you true tailgaters are saying as well, its 12 saturdays sept-november 1 in dec and 1 in january. now granted i do go to most away games so add a couple days to that. her argument was its just troy no need to be out there between 6 and 7. i said thats ur opinion, however i dont care if we were playing a the worst team in college football, its a saturday on the sacred grounds of LSU

frick. That. shite.

Sounds like I'm one of the lucky ones. My girlfriend loves LSU and tailfating as much as I do. shite, she's been to more away football games than I have.

It's called "pussy whipped". Some guys just dig on it. On the other side you have football fans. If you're the latter it looks like it will have to be without her. This is your choice, not hers.
