LSU was able to gain a lot of recognition which resulted in pulling in some elite kids they might not have. You think Patrick Peterson would be here had LSU not won two NC's recently?

Wrong, Alabama already being there win or lose hurts LSU. So pulling for Bama to win helps the SEC. It has been percieved the last couple years that the Big 12 is as good as the SEC therefore diminishing the SEC and making recruits look more at the Big 12 also. If Bama goes out and stomps a mud hole in UT then it proves the SEC is top dog the the SEC West is tops in that league. So the perception of playing in the most dominating Division of the most dominating conference indirectly helps LSU.

It's just a stupid thread in general considering none of this will change the outcome of the game.

So we should quit rooting for anyone period, unless we are at the game, because we do not affect the outcome?

the only real factor for me is the fact that I live in Birmingham, and really would love to see the bama fans brought down a notch. I met a guy last week who said he didn't think Bama would lose another game for several years now that Tebow is gone.

It's not quite that easy when you work in an office loaded with Horns, Aggies and Techsters.

not a bad point. but the fact remains, bama is playing for a national title 2 years after LSU won the title.

we will be fine.

But that's a hell of lot easier than putting up with Bama fans.

Never ever ever ever ever pull for Bama under any circumstances.

Agreed (here in Austin)

If I were in Alabama, I would probably root for Texas.

I live in Houston and work with a plethora of UT grads. It's tough seeing burnt orange every time you step out of your office. I can only imagine how high and mighty they will feel if they win tonight.

and they may be again when Saban wins his second NC, that makes bama stronger, and makes LSU's job a lot harder.

he's probably one of the idiots that will be pissed if Bama fans don't start chanting "SEC" should they win.

Yeah, but the few Bama fans I know I see a couple of times per year. Unless you live with the Horns, you have no idea how arrogant they can be as well. I have to deal with them on a daily basis.

I'd rather boast about LSU, and not have to ride the coattails of a conference rival

they will come back down to earth. the days of one team dominating the conference like florida did in the 90's are over.

or are you one of those that simply thinks bama and florida are going to be on top for the next decade?

i know you are not one of those.

they're just getting started, so I don't see them falling very far any time soon. W/ the position LSU is in right now, that is not a good thing.

Absolutely, but in reality you are also recognized for the dogs you run with - I am immersed in a Texas/Big 12 world here, affecting my motivation.
