Why? Because as well all know, some players are not quite prime time PRACTICE players but turn out to be awesome game time players.
Not sure how they'd ever see the field in that case.
How are they ever evaluated for depth chart? They play just good enough to beat #2.

Jimbo left because miles wouldnt let him call the offense as he saw fit.

Miles tried to strong arm him like he has done so many others.

Jimbo wouldnt stand for miles stupied shite you see today, therefore he wanted out.

I love how everyone on this board is so well connected to the inner workings of the LSU football coaching staff

No one with any sense wants miles to run a different offense every week.

However, we dont want to see the offense go backwards between weeks 3 and 10.

Why would you do anything in a game, that you couldn't execute in practice? If youre just going to go out on the field and do things you aren't good at, then you might as well not practice at all....some of you people kill me.

When you see a safety reading a key and reacting in a way that makes him open to get burned, as a coach you would be a dumb arse not to run a modified play that could score a TD on one play.

Im not being exact, just using the play of a safety as an example.

Sadly, I know you are right.

Les was almost fired and he was even given his farewell carry off the field after a meaningless last home game. Despite this close encounter with termination it sounds like Les is still refusing to adapt and change. He might surprise all of us and I might win the lottery too.

That just makes sense. If you can't get it right in practice, why would you try it in a game??

I would think every OC at some point in time disagrees with the HC over which play to run in a given situation and even so over bigger strategies. So I don't doubt but that at some time Jimbo and Les butted heads. That said, I don't agree with your points:

1) Jimbo left to be HCIW at FSU. I don't see how he would've been expected to stay on as OC and decline their offer. Even if he and Les were BFF he was leaving for FSU.

2) I think Jimbo actually got his way sometime after the UF loss in '06 and we went to a more JaMarcus-pass game first approach. At this juncture I think Les fully trusted Jimbo w/ the O.

2a) This is consistent with Jimbo's successor's hiring (Crowton). Crowton's MO had always been fling-it aggressive on O. His hiring makes no sense whatsoever unless Les wanted to play aggressively on O. Which we did in '07 and '08. But the INT fest in '08 was the end of that.

ETA: Jimbo wasn't named HCIW at FSU when he first left LSU. He was named HCIW later in 2007.

Outside of Ole Miss NO ONE is beating Alabama on a regular basis... 5 in a row is bad but it's not like we lost 5 straight to some shite team

The above says it all and that is why we will be second fiddle to Bama and others. I'm sure no Bama fan would be stating the above. Five, four, three , no matter how many we seem to accept the Bama is better. Until that mind set changes both in the fan base and coaching staff we will lose to them. We had them beat the last two times in Tiger Stadium and Les went the run and punt both times and cost us those games. His three yards and a cloud of dust is way past its time.

You are a moron. Nothing I said was even remotely close to the Johnny Jones example you gave. Obviously you like comparing apples and oranges here buddy.

Sometimes we suck at punting, but we still have to occasionally punt the ball- just like inbounding a ball in basketball. But if the LSU football team cant execute, lets say a fake field goal because the team has proven that they cant in practice, why would you risk "trying" something like that in a game?

So you want to compare a trick play to the passing game. Look in the mirror before you start calling names.Only practicing the passing game for 30% of the time is the main reason our passing game suck and our quarterbacks never develop. Les like Bo ball. Get it? Being ranked 106 out of 116 teams teams in passing is not gonna cut it. Year in and year out it is the same problem with different coordinators. So the problem is Les and his philosophy. Understand? No, we don't throw the ball well enough in practice to use it in games. Same song different year. Can they coach and recruit good Quarterbacks? They are good when they get here and suck when they leave.

Anyone believing a coach with a 112-32 record, #2 in the power 5 conferences since 2005, and a current #16 national ranking was almost fired by LSU is a fricking retard.

Thankfully, for LSU, the school is run by adults with some understanding of the difficulty that comes with competing in SEC football and not clueless rant retards.

What exactly do you want him to prove?? shite, Miles runs a vanilla offense and always has, so, I don't see what all the fuss is about?? Outside of the occasional called pass because you're in third and long now because of the mule headed run calls, you are not gonna get much improvisation from Miles. I mean people by now know all of this. This newsflash here in this story is no big news. It's all power football with Les Miles, but if the passing is not run properly to his liking in practice it will never see the light of day. I'm calling bullshite!

But Jimbo left because it's obvious that Mile's was probably handcuffing him on what he could and could not do. He had no promise back then that he would succeed Bowen I don't think at FSU. But shite I'd leave to if a coach limits what I can and can't do. Mile's is too damn stubborn to think outside the run box. It's always been his Achilles heel. This it's not being executed properly bullshite is just that bullshite. Les Miles runs what he wants to run, but if he doesn't produce this season he'll be running for the hills.

Regardless of the addition of the new offensive assistants, Cam being on the field instead of the box, Harris one year older, an entire offense coming back for the most part, I have no expectations that this offense will be no better than last year. I expect it to look great against Wisky and the out of conference teams but once we hit SEC defenses I expect nothing more than what we saw last year. I've bought into the hype of the offense in preseason way too many times to fall for it again. Les calls the shots and hamstrings the play calling. I have heard from too many people who would know that Les does approve the plays to be used in the game before the game and vetoes the plays as they get called by Cam. He coaches offense scared. I fully expect him to run into 7,8 and 9 man fronts this year regardless if it is not working, which it won't.

HCs with an offensive background are going to have good amount of say so in all final game plans and selection of plays. But Cam still calls the plays or at least the vast majority. How many times you think Les vetoes plays? Probably not a lot in all reality.

I can see Miles being very much involved along with Cam in the offense on key 3rd downs vs a Bama or Ole Miss, all 4th down conversion attempts and in the fourth qtr of other critical games. Heck he probably made a couple of the calls we saw in some of those type of games outright, but not all. As long as Miles is HC that is not going to change, right or wrong. If it works out this year, fantastic! If not.....we know what happens.
