this is absolutely true. i've heard this from several sources that would know. there was already a deal in place to bring saban back. i know it's hard for most of the bama fans to fathom that someone would leave alabama for another school. you should be thanking kirk herbstreit everyday for throwing a monkey wrench in the whole thing by reporting the miles to michigan thing right before the seccg or miles would've left after the season was over which would've brought saban back to baton rouge.
