seniors play even if there are better underclassmen behind them. At least that is what most people on this board thinks, and there appears to be some evidence that proves this theory.

Uh, no. Ridley and Murphy, both of whom are nothing special, will get nearly all the carries next year despite possibly more talented underclassmen being behind them. It's the Les Miles way.

I know that Murphy has been there a while and is well liked. I hope he finally shows he is a stud. However, I don’t want familiarity to cloud judgment on the part of the coaches. Test all the running backs at practice and the best one plays. I am glad there is a new running backs coach who will have a fresh view. Reward performance. Competition raises the level of play.

i think if there is a philosophy it is to play a bigger back over a smaller one. But Ford and Ware both hAVE GOOD SIZE SO i DON'T THINK THIS WILL KEEP THEM FROM PLAYING.

Lyle Hitt, Alem, McCray from last year, are just a couple. However, I don't buy into this theory completely; I am just saying there is some evidence to support it. I do acknowledge there is are some younger players that play ahead of upperclassmen.

Hitt was a 3 year starter so he must have played ahead of some one with more senority when he was a sophmore. McCray has been getting plenty of playing time for a few years now also, same deal. Who would you have started a head of Alem? Alem was our only true pass rushing DE on the d-line, but granted he didn't have a good season. Your examples suck.

That's awesome. But I doubt he gets much PT at tailback ahead of Miguel Ford, Esteban Ridley, and Ricardo Murphy.

I just hope we can find a running back that's not looking for a place to fall down.

This SHOULD apply to every position, but it doesn't seem to. The thought of a Crowton/JJ offense next year has caused me to rethink taking any road trips (which we always do) and has me Les excited in this offseason than any in recent memory.

dude, don't be such a dick. Hitt might have been a three year starter but did it really look like he was better than Hurst this year? Alem was a very good pass rushing DE, but not good at run stopping. He should have been in on passing situations not an every down DE. McCray, well we can just say that he played ahead of better ball players that were younger last year.

If you read my post, I didn't say I was in complete agreement with the "concept that Miles plays upperclassmen over the underclassmen regardless of who is better". I just said there were a couple of cases that could help make that case. I also said there were instances that prove it is total bullshite.

Also, you asked "What philosophy is that you are talking about?" and I was just answering your question.

Ford was a true freshman last year with Scott and Williams on the roster, two of the better all time LSU running backs.

Scott I might agree, but with Williams that is a stretch.
