Well, there are other things in life besides football (did I really just type that nonsense?)...
I hope he uses the time to settle and find what really motivates him in life, and then after a break, that He comes out in full force towards whatever that may be. If he decides that is football, then He will be in a better posture to succeed the next time for 2 reasons. For one, He will not be on a bottom rung team (most likely) and secondly, He would be fully committed after a real break and soul searching time. In addition, perhaps he cam sit back and learn his tendencies and seek guidance from a QB coach of his choosing, so that if He gives the NFL another go He will be much better postured to succeed.
Whatever the case, any labels placed on him are of not any value to him in reality. What will matter is his personal confidence and motivation.
Good luck to JR in either case.

You know while everyone else argues about how big of a bust he is, it's nice to see Russell himself is just living his life. No need to get worked up over what others are saying about you.
Pretty easy to just "Live your life" with 30 million in the bank. (Or however much is left) I'm sure he's already blown a large portion of it.
JaMarcus better stop by Waffle House and meet his future employers while he's in Mob-Town.....

My guess is that Jamarcus 39M is disappearing as fast as his career. I see reality shows and/or some kind of gimmick MMA stunt in JR's future.

JR has a "want"

you don't want five or 10 years from now to see your name on some billboard as being the worst player or biggest bust.
Too late. You can't undraft someone. As far as #1 picks go, he is truly the epic fail all time. Made 4x the money Ryan Leaf made, did not have 4x the career.

He doesn't have $39M. Between Uncle Sam and his agent, the sum probably can be reduced to about $22-24 million. JR has had 3 years to spend some of it, give some to family members, etc.
I'd guess that he has about $!5-18M remaining, unless he really got hooked on Vegas big-time. He could still be set for life, as long as he doesn't have an entourage draining him, or family members, or baby momma's. And if he has some idea that he'll almost certainly never make another huge payday again, and takes steps to live off of the income that his money can earn.
Good luck to him. He convinced the idiots to waste all that dough on him, so I hope he can keep some of it. So many athletes end up broke, even guys like Antoine Walker (Boston Celtic) who made almost 3 times as much money as Russell, but would sometimes travel with an entourage of as many as 70 people.
