Despite what many think here, LSU doesnt recruit itself.
So?
What has Miles to show for it? Why not get an actual coach in here (like Fla did with McElwain) and after he turns this bus around, the recruits will follow (like McElwain did with Franks)
See how that works?

One thing I will say I'm not a fan of is having the boosters "determine" (this is how I interpreted it) saying "we'll tell you (Alleva, who I am not a fan of) to hire
Boosters are fans too and they want to see LSU win just as much as anybody. IMHO they would go the extra mile where as someone with a less than enthusiastic approach to LSU football might not care as much who coaches the football team.

I understand that. That's my point.
Why have an AD then? Again, I'm not a fan of Alleva's but to let fans with boo coo amounts of money basically "hire" someone is kinda weird.

THIS!! I bet none of them would bet against that either

i bet les miles wouldn't avg 10-3 the rest of his time if he stayed. what's the big deal.
Posted on 11/24/15 at 3:26 am to PhiTiger1764
All Les had to do was adapt change his offense just like Saban did. He was to hard headed. Them people saying we spoiled rotten no we just tried of watching that power I and run up the middle 4 to 5 times in a row. I can't watch another game with that type of offense. I don't want a spread but I do want a true pro set offense. That's all

I say this: I'll bet you money that whoever's next at LSU doesn't survive 11 years and doesn't go 110-32. I'll take the under on both of those for the limit.
Odds are he's right
He may be right but he should have also included Les in that prediction
Posted on 11/24/15 at 4:47 am to PhiTiger1764
The next coach to come in won't have Saban's Ferrari to drive, so yeah, it will be tougher.

SVP likes Miles. Heck, as a person, who wouldn't. He's a very decent man. However, we don't want just a decent man who can recruit anymore, we want a decent man who can recruit and who can speak normally and who can coach greatly.

Why do people not acknowledge this? Just because this scenario has lead to harder times for some programs didn't mean change wasn't needed

Just like any other figurehead. People behind them with fricktons of money

The media can go screw. For years they used Miles as a source of quirky soundbites and portrayed him as a lovable idiot. Now that it appears he may be out, they want to run to his defense?

Therefore, he wouldn't last 11 years.

I will bet good money that the new coach has a better record the next 4 years than Miles did the last 4. And that's even before seeing the next hire. People need to realIze the very poor downward trends that have been happening. The media whines anytime a coach gets let go that wasn't 100% garbage. After we get the new guy and get back to playing good football they will the look back and acknowledge this was the right time to do it.
Posted on 11/24/15 at 6:22 am to PhiTiger1764
Another person who has been blind the last 4 years... I guarantee we can find somebody who can go better than 13-10 in the SEC in last 3 years. Nobody cares now that miles won 10 games a year 7-8 years ago..., he sucks NOW and someone can do better.

Of course he's right. He knows football. He played it once with friends. He knows Louisiana , he knows who Lsu's next coach will be. He can read into the future 11 years. Impressive

I think people are just frustrated with the offense, and the inability to beat Alabama.
True, but it goes much deeper than that for me. Watching LSU play anybody is painful. I guess I like to see a well coached team 100% of the time. I don't mind getting beat by the better team, IF my team executed and simply got beat. Watching the team fail to execute and sputter for years is not entertaining. They also lack discipline. The reasons are numerous. Its just not a well coached team. Period.

Add SVP to the list of national, objective sports media that think LSU is nuts for all of this

Right because they'll be inheriting a program that is 8 years away from a national title instead of 1 and coached by Les Miles instead of Nick Saban.
Miles inherited a program set up for success. He will be leaving what adds up to a rebuilding project in comparison.
