Could Sid be effective on the college level.. The guy is a winner everywhere he goes, just wandering if you guys think Sid could get it done on the D-1 level. Starting as position coach first then working up the ranks

Known as a great recruiter, also.

Didn't win at Jesuit.

This could be more a commentary on Jesuit than Coach Sid considering his success at Central and Redemptorist. When he took over at Jesuit the football team didn't even have uniforms and the locker room was being rebuilt. They were still painting over the water marks from Katrina. He loved it a lot there and hated to leave. He felt he had a chance to make a powerhouse at that school.

His lack of success at Jesuit was more to do with that there is very VERY little athletic talent at Jesuit.

Wasn't he a stolen play from being in the Dome last year?

Sid would never make it at the college level because his work ethic isn't the best.

He is a damn good coach though and I wouldnt be surprised to see Central in the Dome this year.

What was the Central/Catholic score this year?

Because Sid Edwards was seen in town with Terri Saban and Candy Edwards and a realtor, suggesting a possible move to the BR area. The rumor from the custodial staff at the Athletic Department is that Les Miles is going to take the soon to be vacant Louisville job, Saban is going to take over for Bob Toledo at Tulane, Toledo is going to be the co-offensive coordinator for Bama with Major Applewhite, and Sid Edwards will coach LSU with Dale Weiner as his RB coach.

I also heard he was hiring Spurrier to coach the O.

he is a good motivator and is good communicating with his players. However, he surrounds himself with excellent coaches and Sid is NOT that good of a football coach. He gets his players to play, but he is just an average X and O coach.

+1000

Sid could not win at Menard or Jesuit. He is a good coach just not great. He must be surrounded by excellent players and coaches to be successful. Once the talent pool declines from a school he jumps ship for greener pastures. How many jobs has he had or pursued since he left Redemptorist? I could name probably 8-10. All GREAT coaches find a way to win!!

Isn't this the case for all coaches?

Not true, he left for more money so he could take better care of his kids(which have autism) There was no way he could pass on the job he took when he left RHS. It was a 1 or 2 year deal in which a parent at the school paid him a butt load of money to coach his son.

sid's a good guy and has come a long way .. but a lot of the assessments, including this one, are true ... sid has a knack for finding the right place at the right time ... he can recruit -- laugh about it or not ... he has always surrounded himself with good football people too ... if sid was ever going to make it as a coach on the college level, it would have been as a basketball coach ... why sid doesn't just straight up coach basketball has always perplexed me .. believe it or not .. hoops is his first love ..

Yep, and he will be the first one to tell you that he is a much better basketball coach than football coach.
