If I was a WR on the team I would be pissed. Find a guy to the get the ball to those three. Shep, Tolliver, and Randle are arguably the best trio in college. If I was a HS senior WR I would think twice about committing to LSU with the situation they are in.

That offense was so dumbed down for him last Saturday. If you are only going to trust your QB to throw 16 times in the game, you might as well play Russell Shep there.

Not to mention how many times we run with Jefferson, if we were going to run this type of offense, why didn't we make Shepard QB?

It's not that we think JL is Ryan Mallet. But, there needs to be some kind of change before the big games. It is unfair not to play Lee and expect him to lead us to victory on the road or against Bama. And trust me, he will be needed. Let's give him some meaningful reps now.

This QB scramble nonsense is going to end soon.

GREAT POINT CougarBait. Sheppard is much more dynamic and I bet he can throw it 5 yards. Jefferson can't.

I can see it now. Jefferson running around the corner and Donta Hightower laying his butt out.

And then Lee will try to lead us to victory again without any playing time. Real fair spot to be in.

JJ audibles fine.

It's not simplifying because JJ doesn't get it.

It's simplifying it because we (Crowton) is obsessed with giving the defense a billion different exotic looks and it permits the offense from getting into any sort of rhythm. Most good offenses will find something that's working and stick with it (whether it's a formation, an area of the field to run to, a player). We don't do any of those things with any regularity.

Strip back the offense because we have so much talent we don't need exotic schemes to win, because in general, our man can beat theirs head to head.

Please tell me you're joking. Do you watch LSU football? Do you realize that it is the QB that is holding us back? Do you realize with Flynn and this same offense, we didn't have trouble throwing the ball? Do you realize that even though there are 8 guys in the box this year, we have still been able to run the ball because our oline is that much improved?

WOW...And this is why we have issues. People really need to understand talent. As a person who watches all the games during the day, go watch other QBs run their offenses. Then compare to how JJ always locks on one receiver. You will be flabbergasted at how much better they are.

That's it in a nutshell.

But don't think I believe JJ isn't a bright kid. He doesn't bring it on the field, and that's all that counts. Getting it done!

We are speaking about football IQ only. Not his personal intelligence so don't confuse the two.

You hear the great players talk about the game slowing down for them. That doesn't happen for Jefferson.

Also, he is the best QB in the nation at tackling himself. There might not be a more awkward runner. Hey JJ, please plant your foot once in awhile and make a cut. You'll be amazed what happens.

THe problem is you have built in stereotypes based on accusations made about a player that simply aren't true.

JJ is by no means a world beater. He's struggled. Part of the reason he gets "Confused" is because the coaching staff has done a horrible job of bringing him along, mostly due to the bajillion formations we force ourselves to try and use. So we finally dialed it back last week and he performed well.

But saying that he's "unintelligent" and "doesn't make checks or audibles" or "stares at one receiver every player" is simply unfounded bullshite.

Exactly!! Why would a 5 or 4 star WR want to come to LSU right now? There is nothing being presented to them to showcase their talents. I wonder what the sales pitch would sound like, come to LSU where you might have the ball thrown to you 10 times this year and I can almost gurantee you 3-4 of these throws will either be over your head or at your feet, and you won't run a pattern over 10 yards.

I'm waiting for Dead Fish's response to this thread so he can accuse everyone of being racist, not understanding football, not seeing the greatness that is JJ, blaming the playcalling for all that is wrong with our offense but not giving JL the benefit of those same excuses. I really think the guy is related to JJ.

Actually it's not. Watch the replays. Watch his eyes. He never looks off the safety. Performed well? Are you serious? He had 96 yards and still couldn't hit receivers in stride. You notice some of his completions, the WR was completely flat footed because the throw was bad. Please watch him try and throw to a back out of the backfield. It's comical.

First you tell me how many other teams have Power I, Spread Option, Single Back attack offenses.

The term "simplifying the offense" is not being used as it pertains to our QB. It means we're not running different personal on the field every fricking play.

Dumbed down?? Yes, JJ threw only 16 times. He also did not turn the ball over, took only 1 sack for -2 yrds, and we won an SEC West game 29-7. Two of those 16 passes were dropped touchdowns. Jefferson is not calling those "vanilla" plays. I do think Crowton's game calling has been questionable for a while now. Check Crowton's history, first couple years he does great, then down he goes...

I really need to get me one of these x-ray TVs that allows people to see a QBs eyes through the back of his helmet.

Completely agree. But Jefferson's inability to hit a basic pass out of the backfield has nothing to do with Crowton's ineptitude. It has everything to do with JJ's poor touch.

Dude, get off the screen pass shite. That's not what is holding this offense back.
