from the vids I've seen, JJ still has a propensity to miss the receiver by 5 yards from time to time.

i'd rather be 5 yards away from anyone sometimes than right into the DB's chest/hands

J. Lees arm is strong enough! Name which other freshman quarterback was a superstar coming out the gate. Herb Tyler might have been the best at LSU that I can remember but even he started mid -way through the season. Rohan, Mauck, Flynn, Davie all were in the system 4 or 5 years before taking over. Give the kid a break.

What does any of that have to do with a slow release? JJ had a big windup last year. JL had a very quick, compact release.

You can have a quick release and be a bad QB, or a long release and be a good QB. But in general, a quicker release is a good thing.

BTW JJ seems to be one of those guys that throws better on the run than from the pocket. Would you disagree with that?

No, that's what I said.

Yes. It's the other issues that cause the debate. It doesn't mean that I hate Lee or wish him disaster. Quite the opposite.

But, if we don't bring J.J. in as #1, J.L. as #2, based upon last year... yes, I lose confidence in the coaching staff.

Understand?

It's becoming painfully obvious to me that LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee fans are the most delusional people in the free world. They just refuse to accept facts and realize they're losers owned and controlled by the almighty Saban. Seriously people, how much more abuse can you take?

sabanfreak, your post makes about as much sense as someone opening a dental office in Alabama and expecting to make money.

what do you think Lee provides as a challenge to opposing defenses that Jefferson doesn't provide?

Good defenses will prepare for what a starting QB does well. Lee just adds more things for a defense to prepare for.

Determining how good JJ will be based on one bowl game is impossible.

I don't think this answers my question.... "he just does...."

That has nothing to do with my question.

Yea this is exactly how I feel. I really dont care about mechanics, its a stupid debate in my mind. Having the QB who threw with a quick release(good mechanics), but was picked off 13 times of which 7 were returned for TDs. I also think that Jarett Lee will not be able to regain the teams confidence, after how Jefferson lead the team in the last two game, but more so the Chick-Fil-A bowl. I mean Jefferson lead us to one of our biggest and most meaningful wins of the '08 season. I mean his mechanics were obviously good enough to get the job done in convincing fashion. I mean how can you argue with staing the bowl out like 9/9 for 100% completion rate and 1 TD pass (and another that went 84 yards but got called back by holding in the second half) compared with the INT stat of JL alone.

the other team defense has to spend time practicing how to catch and run them back when Lee is the starting QB.

. I think when Lee gets "in a zone",

I saw that zone several times last year. If you really don't think that JL will only see significant playing time if JJ is injured, then you really don't know what you are talking about.

Get use to it. JJ is the starter, and about the only other meaningful playing time from another QB will be from Shep in there for running plays.

Duh! The guy's 6'4" with a huge wing span. Of course he motion is going to be a little more elongated. I only base my opinion on what I see, and I saw a guy who played well enough to win in his first start (the D lost that one), and one that played extremely well in the bowl game. There's a reason JJ has never lost a game as a HS QB, and he is showing why on the field. He gets the job done, period.
