Talk about negativity.
quote:Because it happens all the time when fans pressure an administration to fire a good winning coach.
Why would expect that to happen?
quote:Based on what? Not LSU's history of hiring football coaches. According to most around here LSU has only hired 1 good football coach in the last 30 years. That makes them 1 for 7 if you are part of the ilk that believes Miles is not a good coach.
If Miles is fired, it is just as likely (if not more likely) that LSU will hire a good coach who will consistently win championships.

Do you honestly believe that Saban and Meyer are the only coaches in the entire country who could consistently win championships in the SEC?
They are the ONLY good coaches in America? Really?
Goodness gracious.

First of all, you have discounted Arnsparger. Almost all rational fans agree he was a good coach. So even by the harshest standards, two of the last six hires have been "good."
Second of all, three of the four bad hires were arguably made by one dunce: Joe Dean, a man who had no business being an athletic director in a major conference. The LSU AD is in far better hands now. At the very least, it is run as a professional business, not a parochial circus.
Third, we have better facilities and more efficient, organized fundraising now than we did in the 1990's.
As such, LSU is a desirable job. There would be many qualified candidates who would be interested. Keep in mind that Saban himself had his agent contact LSU and solicit the job because he recognized the potential the program possessed.

It said as Miles left the field in Atlanta and LSU fan stood in the corner (after the win over UNC) and yelled "your gone,Miles! You're gone! Just quit now!
Jerks are in every fan base.
It's just unfortunate they get the attention over the good ones, but it's that way in all avenues of life.

Classless fans like this are at every game! I was pissed at the game too but u have to at least show some respect!!

FWIW I watched my brother single handedly make Lou Temmper quit after the Arkansas game in 98.
And you are proud of that?...actually I really doubt your word..

have it from reasonably reliable sources that some of our fans MIGHT HAVE BEEN DRINKING. Yes, ugly and shocking though it may be for all to believe, I think it is true.

t's going to take another coach coming in and LSU finishing 3/4/5 in the SECwest EVERY year along with the top Louisiana recruits all going to play at Alabama, Auburn, FSU, Nebraska and Notre Dame before many fans realize what a truly mediocre coach looks like.
good list, but you left out MICH and Tennessee which both do national recruiting because their local football sucks.
To make this list optimized, you would have to have Miles take the MICHIGAN job, and successfully recruit one or two of the very best from W. Monroe, M 35, and Plaq. and whatever they have going on in Acadiana and LC. for the next ten years, which would drive the TD Miles-haters CRAZY.

wrong....one of your own. you made them...you empower them...now you have to deal with the stink you created.
the mindless attacks on spew radio and blogs and boards like this are the atmosphere that creates the breeding ground for low life assholes like the jackass at the Carolina game.
the kids are giving their best...the coaches are giving their best...get behind them or get the frick out. support the program, don't subvert it. when the season is done, that will be the time to assess direction and personel.

to lsugorilla,
OK, one more time. Your comments should be directed to The312, not me. His comment was one above mine.
I never commented about winning championships. I could care less about Joe Paterno or Pete Carroll. I know Saban is gone never to return, and urban Meyer is getting a sun tan as we speak.
Find my comment and READ it. You are talking to the wrong person who probably agrees with you more times than you can imagine.

Byubengalboy,
Your right and you know there have been those fans since I can remember going to games when coach Mac was here. The only difference now is mass media. Be critical, get mad when we lose, but this has gone beyong that for some people. They are acutally wanting to tear Miles down to get him run off. The nationla media and gump land are all over it, becuase they can use it in recruiting. Miles has mad some bad moves and coaching decisions, but he is not a bad coach, and he will have this team back in a championship. It won't be this year I don't think because we are so limited at Quarterback.

Head coach hirings are part process, part timing, and part luck. Saban was all of that here and for Bama. Meyer was that at Fla. We have Miles now, who many feel was a bad hire. But that's the timing and availability aspect. So why people are so confident that we would absolutely score a great hire is beyond me.

Who do you actually think would WANT to come here after the way we have treated one of the most successful coaches in LSU's history? Especially after paople are calling for his head two years removed from a NC! Really? Let's be honest here. We might get a good one, but I doubt a great coach would want to come in here after the way our"fans" act. Just my two cents.

Name one time in the last 30 years that LSU has fired a football coach and not hired a better one. Curley Hallman replacing Mike Archer is the only thing remotely close to being an example of this and even that is highly debatable, as Curley at least recruited well and stocked the roster with talent, while Archer depleted the talent down to practically nothing. Otherwise...
Firing Jerry Stovall led to the hiring of Bill Arnsparger,
Firing Curley Hallman led to the hiring of Gerry DiNardo,
Firing Gerry DiNardo led to the hiring of Nick Saban.
Almost every time we fire a coach, we wind up with a better one.
