It's not throwing a player under the bus when they screw up. Did Miles throw Jefferson under the bus after Shady's? I don't think so, JJ screwed up and got suspended. If Lee screwed up, then Miles should have come out and said it.
Don't think for a minute that every coach in the SEC isn't using the JJ/JL situation as negative recruiting. Our recruiting class has lost two key players in the last week, our receiving corps already on campus don't even won't to stick around to be a "stand up tight end". 79% run ratio doesn't recruit elite offensive players.

Did you ever pick up a newspaper when JL was throwing the pick sixes and the Malveto led defense was stinking it up?
Miles consistently pinned the blame on the players as opposed to coaching or play calling.

thats a little different. JJs situation was national news...Lee's is in-house

i know you didn't start watching LSU football in 2008 so i don't think i need to explain this to you

Choctaw, then what's the deal . Do you have inside information. Lee is finished and you are right Miles wouldnt throw him under the bus but you can .What is this in house secret that you know about. Inquiring minds really want to know. Is it as bad as being with someone's daughter that he shoudnt have or just some grade thing and whatever it was , are we to assume it all cropped up before the WKU game?

Yes indeed. And a RSFr QB thrown under the bus by his coaches and teammates consistently stood in front of the press and handled the negative attention with a humility and grace our other departing QB never dreamed of having.

its the grade issues...but its a bit more than that. he completely quit going to classes. Miles even set it up with his instructors so he could go back and finish and he still didn't go. that was the last straw and why he didn't see the field again.
because of who i heard this from...this is no longer a rumor in my mind.
So basically, wrong or right, Miles stuck by his guns...even if it cost him a national championship.

for losing the game to define his career

Thanks for the information. Appreciate it and I know you are a good poster so I will take that information and agree with you.

Well his decision was wrong. Somehow, despite the rumors of Jarrett Lee going off of the deep end and living in a cave for 3 weeks, he still was eligible for every single game. Les Miles let his entire team and coaches down by not giving his team the best chance to win. I hope that Miles feels it was worth it, cause his national, and local, reputation has taken a huge hit in the last week.

meh....its only defined him to those that want him to be defined by it. He'll beat USC in the NC game next year and all is well

so you didn't see that as an opportunity to forever erase the saban shadow?

well...i guess Miles thought not caving was bigger than winning.
Personally....i would have rather never found out about it and have the crystal ball in the trophy room. but im pretty selfish. ofcourse...winning that game with Lee wasn't a given.

im sure he knew the consequences

well, if there is a legit reason, then he should just come out and say it. Not saying anything is not working out so well.

Smells like more red herrings to me.
If there was a reason that Miles could not play Lee, it was his job to get Mettenberger ready in case he was needed...and a second option at QB was clearly needed.
Miles threw out the grades red herring, and now choctaw is throwing a new undefined one.

i seriously doubt he cares about any shadow. i find it somewhat ridiculous that he's been here 7 years, won as much as he has, and yet some people still want to bring up Saban. its ridiculous

believe me or don't believe me....i really don't care. but this is no "red herring"
and i agree with you about Mettenberger. hell...he should've put him in the NC game. it couldn't have hurt.

If this grade thing is true, it was Miles' job to get another QB ready to play...period. This is the lamest excuse I can imagine. And, by the way, Lee did play a couple of series after that grade thing came up.
