Watch the replay last night, he never went and talked to Lee after throws and if they were just a little off he didn't try and make a play on it. Then watch LaFell, anytime there is maybe some miscommunication or something he goes and talks to Lee and tries to get shite straight. Byrd just goes over to the sideline.
He didn't try and make a play on them because his back was turned when the ball passed by. Byrd has made some excellent catches on inaccurate balls this year and taken a few hits in the process.

Jai and PP should be the starters IMO.
I thought Hawkins had a good game on Sat. I see no reason to sit him.

It's not so much that Hawkins need to be benched, but that P^2 needs to be starting. I think Peterson and Eugene are our best two corners this season. It'd be great to see Hawkins at NB instead of one of our S/LB tweeners.

Thank God McCray isn't lining up one on one with WRs at NB anymore.

I've still not seen anything of Jai in coverage to make me think he's anything special, or better than Hawk. I'd put him at nickel and start PP.

I'm just going to do a quick runoff of some of the players..
Lee- just a freshman, but people bust his balls for not being a heisman candidate..
WR's- I feel bad for Byrd, i really do..the guy is an amazing wideout and(nothing against lee)but he doesnt have a quarterback who can get the ball to him constantly, or even occasionally sometimes..
RB's- Scott=AMAZING..that is all..dude is a bruiser..Keiland started slow but has made some big strides & will be the definite starter next season if CS goes pro
OL-pretty damn impressive..HJ handled Peanut Butter & Jelly Cody most of the game, and Ciron Black is a freaking BEAST
TE-Dickson will look better next year with Lee &/or Jefferson being able to throw him better passes..just wait!
DL-Not too impressive..played GREAT against bama but against FLA and UGA looked like complete dogshite..they have great guys up front, & hopefully they will come alive again like they did against UAT and finish strong.
DB-Not awful, not great..mediocre..Pat Peterson is the one SUPER bright spot..that guy will be a STAR i guarantee you..C.Jones hasn't impressed me that much..the safeties haven't been playing great..hawkins is okay..eugene is so-so..getting better though..
LB-pretty bad..Beckwith hasn't been playing too well..but i applaud him with that blocked kick recovery
& wish the best for him!!still a beast in my book..kelvin has been getting beat..but he's still somewhat decent, imo..and Ryan Baker is a BEAST on special teams and should compete for a spot at LB next year!!
oh & holliday should be utilized A LOT more!!

he was actually lined up against julio jones on saturday, in single coverage no less.

MY question. If Lafell makes 1st team all-SEC at the end of the season will people finally admit that he is the best WR on the team?
Posted on 11/10/08 at 2:57 pm to TheDoc
If you're talking about that deep play where it was just McCray and Julio, McCray actually had deep responsibility, and got matched up because one on one because PP had bitten on the shorter route.

He was in deep zone alone when PP went for the short route. I never saw them just line him up over Julio and let the two run from the LoS. Thank God.

There's more to being a CB than pass deflections and interceptions. That's why Chevis Jackson was a better CB than Zenon despite the fact that Zenon had more picks over his career. I could be mistaken, but I've notice that they throw it in Hawkins's direction far more than they throw it in Eugene's direction. I take this to mean that Eugene is better in coverage than Hawkins. Eugene is also excellent at containing outside runs.

To be honest all 3 CB have played really well. PP needs to be on the field as much as possible though.
Posted on 11/10/08 at 3:14 pm to Hideo Nomo
I always thought Jai was better at coverage because he backed up Chevis' side, which was normally the DB that played short when we went to a 3 deep. And that side was rarely tested. This year, we've played a lot more man though, so everyone's had to step it up. I just think Hawkins has done a better job. I mean he leads the CBs in INTs, PBUs, and tackles. Not saying Jai hasn't played well, I just don't think he's been better than Hawkins.

Good corners often don't get a ton of picks.
Posted on 11/10/08 at 3:37 pm to Cheetah Flex
If our passing game was better, Bryd would be an ALL-SEC selection...easily. The guy has great hands (try to forget the bobbled pass that led to an INT.) and his even better after the catch. He can juke out anybody.
The rant is unanamous on this one. He will leave LSU with the most wasted talent ever. It's not his fault either. He just doesn't get many touches.

yeah..and ive always wondered..why not throw a deep ball to him? he could beat the defender..the only problem would be the defender may be able to pick it off despite being 10 yards behind

You do realize Lafell has a really good shot at all SEC himself?
AJ Green is the only guy having a better year.

our team doesn't get a ton of picks period
Seriously, I think all 3 have done reasonably well given that the CB position was a known weakness going into the season and the help over the top has been pretty shaky. I just can't see why Hawkins would sit (apparently the coaches don't either, see what side PP goes in at when he's in at CB... wait did I just agree with the def. coaches...)
