He did not explain the reason(s) for the suspensions. Do they not deserve that. Maybe he told them in private, but I think everyone should understand that CLM is being even handed, if that is true.

He kicked Kyle Anderson off the team in 2007 for the same charge as soon as it was levied.

The JJs are lucky to be on the team. In fact, if it was just Josh Johns being arrested, he would be off the team right now; no indefinite suspension.

I totally understand. Get it over with now. JJ will get two or three games and be back.

Let's try it this way. Can you name the last time, say........in history, when a D1 college football was charged with a felony, and NOT suspended.

Let's start there. The Rant is waiting.

Fair or not, Miles would have been utterly crucified by the media had he not suspended them...with plenty of "see, SEC is crooked," blah blah, etc

I do not understand CLMs timing for suspending JJ and JJ. Were they suspended for being arrested? Of course the police never arrest anyone mistakenly or, especially, maliciously. Further, I am sure that no DA in the country would ever pursue a groundless case, e.g. Duke Lacrosse players. JJ and JJ are innocent unless and until they have been convicted. Now, if the two were suspended for violating team rules, that is a different matter, except for the fact that it seems unlikely that JJ and JJ were the only ones who violated team rules such as curfew? It makes no sense to me unless CLM is convinced that the two are guilty in which case he should dismiss both of them. What say the ranter Nation?

I find your constant use of initials disturbing.....

They were suspended because they were arrested. As they should have been until the legal proceedings are concluded.

Honestly, i don't think any coach ever should suspend a player who maintains their innocence after being arrested.

Duke Lacrosse Nancy Grace Daily Show

I believe this is how it should be in all of life, whether it's a job, etc. You're guilty until proven innocent when it comes to sports though.

The only reason for the suspension should be for JJ to focus on his defense, not because he was arrested. But he would have been crucified by the national media if he didn't suspend jefferson though.

True, true. I can take the heat. Rantards are so named for good reason.

OK. So they are found innocent and the DA incompetent and malicious. Is that justice? Can you explain why the should be suspended until legal proceedings are concluded.

Start where? Where is it written that such persons must needs be suspended under such circumstances. Why is it not explained? Why the secrecy? Can any of the sagacious Rantards explain rather than hurl insult and epithet at the inquisitor?

I think that's a stupid reason to suspend someone.

But I also don't think anyone should be suspended for anything in life just for being arrested.

Now if he suspended Jefferson so he could devote his full attention to his defense, then that would be ok IMO. Just because he got arrested though is not reason enough to suspend someone.

Why suspension due to arrest is the default in all sports nowadays is beyond me. Guilty until proven innocent.

I'm not saying he's innocent, but he shouldn't have any forced consequences until he is PROVEN GUILTY in a court of law.

OK. I see your point. But that is cynical to sacrifice two players to pander to political pressure.

Jesus, you people scare me.

So your child's teacher get's arrested for aggravated rape and murder, and as long as they bond out, you got no problem with them continuing to teach your child until they've been convicted in a court of law.

I'm convinced this place is a haven for retards.

Seriously?

I think the idea is that -- while one has certain rights as a US citizen -- no one has the "right" to be a scholarship football player at a major university.

Likewise, police officers are regularly suspended pending investigations of alleged misbehavior.

I agree with this, but why is it not explained? That is the curious part. If they violated team rules, so be it, but all should be punished who did the same. There are doubtless many facts which none of us understand. The matter should be settled among the parties involved and no one else. If the LSU STAFF concludes that such behavior will not be tolerated, it should be explained to the public that all may know that what has been done is just.

Absolutely not. You are not guilty when you are arrested. You are a free citizen and face no restrictions (other than travel) when out on bail.

Why do you carry the "guilty until proven innocent" mentality?

It would not be fair to the rest of the team to keep the two arrested players on the active roster. All attention would be given to the pending court case, thereby diminishing the team's accomplishments on the field.
It is time to move on. I like Jordan, but nothing good ever happens in BR at 1:30 in the morning. This should be a good lesson for the rest of the team (I know I learned mine back in 1980 after a night out with Dardar! Never happened again).
