I was calling for them to run out the clock...or just run the ball...it was a risky move to pass with the shaky QB play in the first half.

Besides, it was the short side of the field, so it's not like it was going to get much.

Pretty sure Auburn only had 2 timeouts left. Even if they had 3 left the assumption is that LSU runs for a 1st down forcing Auburn to burn one of them. Take a knee on 1st down forcing Auburn to burn another then another knee on 2nd down forcing Auburn to use their last time out (whcih again I think they only had 2 left) then take the knee on 3rd down run the clock down to 3 seconds and kick a near chip shot FG.

Guess it all boils down to how much confidence you have in your special teams. If you have supreme confidence I would take a chance on a FG that leaves no time left on the clock then a 5 point lead giving my opponent 50 seconds and 2 timeouts to score a TD.

I was thinking the same thing. Scott was a beast. I was thinking, just give the ball to Scott until either he scores a TD or there's 3 seconds on the clock and let David win the game. When he went back to pass, i was screaming NOOOOOOOOO. Seconds later i was screaming YES!!!!!! again, that why miles get paid the big bucks!!!!

Isn't this the play they were running? We had a TD last year against Auburn on this play; maybe that's why they were looking for it. Those sorts of plays actually work better to the short side (remember KW's long run against VT - also to the short side of the field).

It was basically a screen pass. Can't get much safer than than. Just a really bad play by the QB. You are mixing apples and oranges.

Sounds alot like what I did till I remembered that the game wasn't over.

Let me first say I didn't have a bet on this game so whether LSU wins by 2 or 5 (betting line LSU -3) the win is all I was rooting for this past Saturday night. Even after LSU was successful in getting that late TD the call to throw was still questionable considering Auburn still had nearly a minute on the clock plus two timeouts left.

Don't recall that one, but I do recall not thinking clearly and taking an extra card with 18 playing blackjack and still winning.
