But they did.

It's always something with this passing game. Bad play calls, bad throws, bad reads, or drops.

That all goes back to coaching.

Cam is the worst OC in the SEC. Period.

There is no way we beat Bama, Florida, Ole Miss, and A&M relying solely on LF running to the left side. It was a one possession game last night at halftime against a high/school team. With the passing game, special teams play, and pass defense we lose to any good team.

Always an IF with these people ... always an IF.

"Ole Miss would still be undefeated if they didn't get blown the frick out by Florida."

Jesus Christ. That is no where near a valid comparison.

In order for a pass to be competed the quarterback has to throw the ball to a place where the reciever can catch it. The most optimal place is where the reciever can easily put two hands on the ball. Got it. Now the second part involves the reciever catching the ball that was thrown to him. So passing is really a two part process. The throw and the catch.

Now, last night Brandon Harris hit his receivers on the hands and the recievers dropped the ball. He did his part, the revievers didn't do theirs. Hell, a lot of those PI calls were on balls the recievers could have still caught. They weren't trying hard at all. In no way was that Harris's fault. So the IF that was originally refernced is valid. A wide reciever for LSU should catch every ball that hits their hands. That is not an unrealistic expectation.

Harris was not perfect last night but he was not the problem. The recievers were the problem the majority of the time.

Considering he said himself he did a bad job developing the passing game last season and it seems like more of the same this season, he sure is stinking it up.

When Crowton and Stud can make Jefferson and Lee look better than Jennings and Harris, something is definitely wrong.

You people get too caught up in statistics sometimes. Brandon Harris has a completion percentage of 53.2 thru 4 games. He's only thrown 62 passes all year! What would his percentage be if not for the stupid penalties, drop passes and sometimes poor effort from his wide receivers? Hell, he might be leading the nation in that category. Get the big picture.

I get the big picture broseph.

quote:

Nowhere did I say I want to see a ton of passing. I just think we should have a more effective passing game. I just used the metric of 100 yards because even with the inept Jennings we achieved that mark most games last year...in fact 9 times and 2 that we didn't he got pulled against NMSU and only played a small amount against Auburn. Also, 100 yards can be achieved in most schemes with 7 or 8 completions, which should equate to about 12 or 15 passes a game, which is about what we do.

I also stated that I am happy with the run first offense and feeding Fournette a ton. I have no issue with rushing for 350 a game, nor do I think we should deviate from that effort, but we need to compliment it better.

Look what McElwain has done at Florida with a true freshman. It just shouldn't have to be this hard to develop a passing game. The dropped passes are definitely on the receivers having a lack of focus, but we never give the passing game anything easy to execute either.

I don't see it as bitching, just saying there really should be no excuse as to why we are not more efficient in the passing game.

It's not that hard. Very few teams have good enough athletes to cover all of that space. That's all I am getting at.

Harris and the WRs should be out there this morning throwing a brazzilion times.

Kickers and cover teams should be working their arse off too.

The big picture is that despite all the talk from Les and Cam about getting better in the passing game and despite the fact that we have elite athletes at all the skill positions, we are even more 1 dimensional than we were last year.

Every team drops passes
100 yds is no great feat, esp against a directional school

They should also be in some sort of remedial class about the rules and procedures of football.

LSUs scheme even required Mett two whole seasons to digest. It's absurd and it holds the team back.
