I don't understand why Arkansas is getting this kind of hype.
Because Mallet is the best passing QB in the SEC, and Petrino is the best offensive coach. Arkansas may peak next year under Petrino, but they are going to be a handful when they have the ball.

Right now, to me, the Florida game and the game at Arkansas will be their two toughest tests.
LSU is not the big game anymore. It mad my sad to hear Bama players say after the national championship that they worked all summer just to beat the Gators. They knew if they could beat the Gators then they could win it all.
For the last 6 years or so other teams said that about LSU.

Bingo. We are now in the same boat as Miami and Florida State.

Florida knocked them out of the MNC in 2008.
Florida was expected to be much better than LSU in 2009, and they were.
Why wouldn't Bama players say that they worked hard to get past the Gators?

He is telling like it is. We need to earn our way back and once there we need to keep it there or fall back and forth like we were before this run. Sad but true

How many times has Arkansas beat us the last 3 or 4 years?
How about how many times since 2000? Ole Miss and Arkansas have always given us trouble over a span of the last 2 coaches. See SEC losses and close SEC wins. The schedule has always been extremely difficult for LSU due to having to play Alabama and Florida every year during the regular season.
2000 - Losses Auburn (17-34), Florida (9-41), Arkansas (3-14); Close Wins: Miss State (45-38 OT), Alabama (30-28)
2001 - Losses: Tenn (18-26), Florida (15-44), Ole Miss (24-35); Close Wins: Arkansas (41-38)
2002 - Losses: Auburn (7-31), #10 Alabama (0-31), Arkansas (20-21); Close Wins: Ole Miss (14-13)
2003 - Loss: Florida (7-19); Close Wins: #15 Ole Miss (17-14), #7 Georgia (17-10) NCCG Win
2004 (Saban's last year) - Losses: #14 Auburn (9-10), #3 Georgia (16-45); Close Wins: #12 Florida (24-21), Ole Miss (27-24)
2005 - Loss: #10 Tenn (27-30 OT); Close Wins: #11 Florida (21-17), #16 Auburn (20-17), #4 Alabama (16-13), Arkansas (19-17)
2006 - Losses: #3 Auburn (3-7), #5 Florida (10-23); Close Wins: #8 Tenn (28-24), Ole Miss (23-20), #5 Arkansas (31-26)
2007 - Losses: #17 Kentucky (37-43 3OT), Arkansas (48-50 3OT); Close Wins: #9 Florida (28-24), #18 Auburn (30-24), #17 Alabama (41-34)
2008 - Losses: #1 Alabama (21-27), #11 Florida (51-21), #9 Georgia (38-52), Ole Miss (13-31), Arkansas (30-31); Close Wins: #10 Auburn (26-21)
2009 - Losses: #1 Florida (3-13), #2 Alabama (15-24), Ole Miss (23-25); Close Wins: Miss State (26-23), #18 Georgia (20-13), Arkansas (33-30 OT)

I didn't understand why people were touting Ole Miss as a top ten team this time last year. People get blinded by a "sexy" quarterback.

We've beaten like what, 1 ranked opponent over the last 2 seasons? And that was Georgia Tech, a non-SEC team.
We've earned the lost respect. We still beat the patsies, we can't handle good teams anymore.
To add, the last 4 ranked teams to come to Death Valley beat us...we aren't even tough at home anymore.
ouch

We will likely get more hype and preseason ranking than we should due to this, but we wont be a pushover next year.
I know it is hard to phathom, but we do have a decent program up here folks.

LSU has been over rated the past two years and will most likely be over rated this year when the pre season polls are announced....face it we will be mediocre until we change our coaching staff...its not like we are lacking any talent what so ever

I love how they ignore LSU. That way when we win, they are left scratching their heads trying to write a new post game commentary.

Because of Mallet, reminds me of OM's hype with Snead last year. LSU 2010 > Arkansas 2010.

We even struggled to beat a few of those patsies - La Tech, Troy, Miss St
Outside of our fanbase rest of the country doesnt see us as an elite team anymore.

We're gonna shock everyone next season and be an elite team. 2011 we're the team to be.

Bingo. We are now in the same boat as Miami and Florida State.
Stupid comment at best....
FSU has gone 7-5 in 2007, 7-5 in 2008, and 6-6 in 2009.... If I'm not mistaken.
And you consider that eqivalent to LSU's accomplishments?
MORON!

Equiv to Miami? They haven't had a 9 win season in 5 years. We were similar to them this season though.
Posted on 1/26/10 at 2:03 pm to filmmaker45
As far as the national perception is concerned there are no tiers of elitism. You are either an elite team right now or just another top 25 team.
Elite teams dont have 9 losses or a .500 conference record in 2 years.

While I think that folks need to tap the brake on this stuff about the "sky is falling" with the Tigers program, I have no issue with Low not showing us any love. The Tigers have been medicore the last two (2) seasons and haven't done alot to earn the respect. Get out of the gate strong in September by beating NC, Vandy, MS State and West Virginia and we'll begin to see a little love thrown the Tigers way.
