Like your optimism, but there is not enough team basketball to get that far IMO.

I would normally agree, but I am not sure that the offensive chemistry and guard play is that much worse than 99-00, so Elite 8 is possible. Although it does seem very unlikely.

absolutely not. and i would take any of lsu's current top 4 guards over him on defense. yes, including josh gray

you are full of shite. What LSU needs right now is someone that can lead the offense. We have some great outside shooting with Hornsby (ok, great is an exaggeration, but to my point). We have a strong inside game....we just need someone that can handle the ball and dish it out UNDER CONTROL. DMITCH did that. We don't need some superstar that can run up and down the court out of control and occasionally make plays. This is why LSU struggles in the half court offense. They DON'T have a pg and in the ncaa tourney, it is all about guards. LSU doesn't have the right chemistry, and that is why they are so inconsistent.....or let me rephrase that....they don't have a pg.....period.

They may make the elite 8 of the NIT. Because they aren't making the big dance.

I guess if you say it enough it will come true right?

I think this team is generally poorly coached and lacks a pg. That said, they win a few more regular season games and they are in the trny.....and from there it's all about matchups. They play a team that slows it down into a half court game.....it's lights out. They play a team that will run...they got a chance.

no actually i'm not. and you didn't read my comment. i said on defense and then you went on to describe offense.

DMITCH did that
on offense

LSU doesn't have the right chemistry
that is not a product of individual talent. that is a product of the overall attitude of the team. imo, that comes from the top.

You dont know basketball if you think Darrel Mitchel wouldnt get off the bench against this inconsistent guards.

I think you need to brush up on your Darrel Mitchell knowledge.

Outside shooting is not nearly good enough - or consistent in clutch situations.

Rebounding is a problem.

Half court offense bogs down regularly.

Defense has trouble keeping opponent from getting to the rim.

We're in YEAR 3 of the JJ regime. Why aren't there enough players?

Doesn't take that long to turn around a college basketball program IF all the right pieces are in place.

We can't even figure out fricking Texas A+M. (Not exactly a college basketball power)

Hell if we keep playing like we do, we may not make it this year. Pretty much have to play flawless basketball from here on out.

People keep missing the point about dmitch. Sure he hit clutch shots but he wasn't better defensively than the current guards, wasn't significantly better offensively and gives up height to all of them. So the question remains who would he clearly displace? Who do you take off the floor so that he can go in?

Even if dmitch is comparable, that doesn't address the rest of the team

And of course this isn't the overall issue I was discussing which is the tremendous disparity between the current talent on the floor and the mediocre record.
