yeah, I've never actually made it to the GA dome, plus have free place to stay in Atlanta so I'm going.

Since I live 30 minutes from Georgia Dome, I don't have a choice but to join some more Nega-Tigers on September 4.

Compared to almost 9 for us

Good points, we'd probably have sold more if it were in Chapel Hill, NC

I heard as of two weeks ago, each team got 31000 tix. LSU had sold 21000 and UNC 19000. Atlanta is the largest Alumni base for each school outside of their home state. LSU 10000 alum, UNC 8000 alum.

Houston & Dallas have a lot more LSU alums than Atlanta.

You totally made that up. Houston probably has 20,000 LSU alumni living there.

LSU always brings more people that what ticket allotment we bought. I remember in December LouisianaLonghorn was taking shots at our fan base (ironic since UT is lacking in this department as well and they are from a state thats got a population that dwarfs Louisiana) for only buying 15k Captiol One Bowl tickets. I attended the game and there were easily 20-25k LSU fans there.... 5-10k more than what was estimated. The fact is if you buy tickets from LSU a lot of times you risk getting stuck in the upper deck, but if you buy them off of online ticket sites, you can choose where your tickets will be.
I do think its sad though we brought 20k people to Seattle last year to watch us play a team that didnt win a single game the year before. and have barely bought more tickets to this great matchup thats a lot closer to home.

false.....Houston, Texas dwarfs all. Atlanta is 2nd though, with Dallas being a close 3rd.

Not to beat a dead horse -- but the economy sucks right now too --- so that is having some impact as well.
I think people not going has as much to do with this as the opponent, distance, etc.
I don't think it's a negative reflection on LSU.

Why can't we get 1,000 people to get the Georgia license plates then?!?
... and ditto to Houston being #1 outside of Louisiana ... and I always thought that Dallas was #2 too.

Don't worry about selling Jerry World tickets--East Texas and North Louisiana will be there in force.

i'm pretty sure as it gets closer to the game the lsu fans will help sell it out.

I've seen a lot of excuses in this thread, some that may even be valid (economy), but the bottom line is that it's a neutral site game between two teams that aren't expected to be very good and whose fan bases are decidedly, and justifiably, lukewarm about their prospects. If this were 2007 and we were realistically in the hunt for SEC West, overall and national titles, we would sell out our allotment most likely. But a useless road trip in September to watch a likely 7-5 LSU team play a likely 7-5 North Carolina team just isn't going to sell the tickets. If the Chick-Fil-A people want to sell out, they have to invite good teams. They didn't do that this year, which is why they haven't sold out.

Exactly. I never thought we would sell out our allotment for this game. We travel pretty damn good, but not enough to fill the Georgia Dome for a season opened against UNC.
LSU would if this was 2005-2008 and there was more excitement around the program
Fans aren't as pumped right now and money is tight for a lot of them

wrong. Outside of Louisiana, Houston has the biggest alumni base.
