1 second away from 6-2,

Too bad we pissed away 17 seconds after the third down play. And, of course, don't forget the series of miracles it took just to get to that position. Ole Miss thoroughly outplayed us in the fourth quarter of that game, and it was only their huge choke that gave us any chance. Of course, we screwed it up.

1 INT reversal away from 7-1

One INT reversal and one 60+ yard drive for a TD by the #112 offense vs. the #1 defense, and one defensive stop after that by a defense that almost never stopped anybody late in games when we needed it to.
quote:

1 decent offensive drive against Florida from being 8-0.

A drive where you score 11 points is a hell of lot better than just "decent".
quote:

I know you can do the same thing the other way

And it would be a hell of a lot closer. MSU, Georgia and Arkansas came MUCH closer to beating us than we did to beating Alabama or Florida. MSU and Arkie were also closer to beating us than we were to beating Ole Miss and Penn State.

The personnel on the OL and at QB constitutes 7-8 wins, IMO.

What a huge dropoff in talent for a team that so recently used to be one of the elite in the SEC, and in college football generally. How did things get that fricked up that fast? Whoever was in charge during that time did a really shitty job. And if you think the same thing happens all the time to teams, then name the last national champion other than LSU that followed it up with five losses and an unranked finish the next year.

You can't get tired of reality.
quote:

At least it is not the other way around. Looks like progress to me.

Progress is arguably not defined by one year. You need more of a trend to make that statement, 2 years is borderline, 3 years is definitely a trend.

1 second away from 6-2, 1 INT reversal away from 7-1, 1 decent offensive drive against Florida from being 8-0.
You can't use these arguments as predictions that we would have won those games. We could have missed the field goal, an INT does not guarantee us a win, and so on. The outcome of the games is the only thing that counts, and how the team played. The outcome was a loss, and in most of those games, the team played like shite.

2010 Prediction - 7-1 in the SEC...

I hope so but I don't see it. Let's see how they look at fall practice and in the first game before we start with the lofty predictions.

none...but UF did have 4 losses with a Heisman winning QB and Percy Harvin.

not at Alabama, pal.

You know why? Because Saban coaches there. Saban doesn't go 8-4. Florida doesn't go 8-4. USC doesn't go 8-4. Oklahoma doesn't go 8-4. Ohio St. doesn't go 8-4.

You just love mediocrity if "attrition" is your excuse, pal.

That's only because they lost so much on defense.

That's not attrition, that's just bad luck. Right?

Why didn't Meyer have those guys prepared and ready?? No excuse for that!

That offense was bad. Obviously, finishing 109th.
so we kept the guy responsible for the 109th offensive ranking.

It's called a rebuilding year on defense

And once that defense was rebuilt in 2008, what happened?

In the meantime, we've had to rebuild a defense, now an offense...and I'm still not sure how good either will be this year

Then don't bring it up! Why do you jackasses bring up the subjects in which you are so damned tired!

I find it interesting how some will make excuses for every coach out there but will not give a break to the one wearing purple and gold....and many times its over very similar situations.

Instead of saying Miles is 8-8 in the SEC, how about 51-15 overall. Mile's bashers just look for the one stat that makes him look the worst. Until he no longer has the best winning percentage ever by an LSU coach, I stand behind him.

I can't explain that. I don't know wtf. I'm on the "Crowton sucks" bandwagon.

I'm not making any excuses for Meyer in 2007, they had a young defense and that's why they weren't that good...he corrected the problem and won a NC the next year

Believe me, I was all geared up for 2009...new DC, much better defense, ready for an sec title run...oh wait, now we have a disaster on the other side

If Les fixes it all this year, great, grand, wonderful...it's my opinion however, that either the problems won't be fixed, or other problems will emerge like last seaso

K?

Hence the reasoning behind giving the guy '10. Again, Perrilloux threw the offense into a tailspin.

I don't see how you can say that when the only way to go on offense is up. They say the biggest jump in production and success is between the Soph and Jr years for QB's.

We'll see what happens.

My big issue is that people just KNOW what's going to happen, when in reality, they don't know what's going to happen. Their constant bickering and preaching (Nuts, Foosball, PeeJ....although PeeJ just jumps into threads like Kige and agrees with whoever is saying something negative about Miles) without letting anything play out.

It's ridiculous.
