The QB and RB struggles are connected. Our running game will continue to be poor until Jefferson can prove he a treat to pass for 250 on you. Until then teams will load the box and prepare for the run

And we'll continue to hit them for 6.5 yards/attempt and play ball control that way

then why have we won with so few passing yards?

weakest part of our schedule

Right now we average 6.5 yards/attempt.

Last year we averaged 6.7 yards/attempt

So I take it you are predicting that we'll end up 7-6, since we were 8-5 with the better stats?

This is NOT on JJ this IS on the O-line. Why you JJ bashers fail to realize this is beyond me...

Defense was the issue last season. This is purely JJ vs Lee. I'm showing that the average yards per pass is not as different as some people make it out to be.

Sorry the obvious point you should have taken from that stat line was the fact that our O was putting up 30+ pts a game and was not the problem. The problem lie within ball security, which we have now, and defense, which is looking much better.

ETA: This is why I hate getting on the rant... you guys are ridiculous. JJ will make you guys eat crow.

Lets try some math. 5 offensive lineman vs 10 in the box. How successful do you think a running game will be?

OK, the young man sitting in your moms basement, in your underwear.

No, it really doesnt depend on how well the linemen blocks, or the RBs hitting the holes.

OK, the young man with the glasses. No, the gold glasses with the purple frames. Yes, you.

No, its not really all about the playcalling. A coach really can only go with what is available. When you force the action, often mistakes are made

Lets see, the little girl with the pigtails.

Correct, when there are twice as many men near the line of scrimmage, the offensive linemen cannot pick them all up on blitzes or stunts, nor can they block enough of them to open large holes on a run.

I'm sorry. What was your question. How do you get the defense to back off the line? You have to make them think you are capable of throwing deep, so the defense is not moving toward the line of scrimmage, on the snap.

dont worry he wont

Jefferson has been fine so far this season. He has done what he needs to do. Of course we would always like to see some improvement. But he has been good enough.

I just don't see the point in bitching about Jefferson when he hasn't been close to being the biggest problem.

You've got a critical eye - almost as if you resent not being on the field. I was just curious as to where you play/played football....

Evidence shows that Lee is an inaccurate passer who forces balls when pressured.

That was LAST SEASON. Ancient History.

Just like teams that are supposed to improve the most from the first game to the second, FRESHMAN QB's usually improve a lot when they're sophmores. I keep bringing up the names of Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford and Matt Stafford. They all stunk it up their freshman years, picks and all. But unlike Jarrett Lee, their respective coaches gave them another shot and put them right back in there as starters in their second years. I guess JL isn't going to get that kind of consideration and it's a mistake. At least give the guy a few series to see if he's made any improvement on the things that we all know he needed to improve on. He'll never get better or at least we'll never know if he's improved if he never sees the field....

Now, I am all for JJ, but he does need to start hitting some deep balls. Just look at his peers for other teams. If you want to be a big dog, you have to do it all. Too many weapons on this team.
