Lee's biggest problem was locking on to receivers, doubt he does that now!
if he still does, he's hopeless!
I'd like to see how he looks also. But I wouldn't have wanted to perform an experiment to find out last Saturday. We had enough problems to deal with as it was. We'll find out one way or another at some point early in the season.

had Ridley's touchdown stood, the next drive would have been a good spot for him.

No it wasn't an SEC game but it was a big non-conference game. You don't think that was a pressure packed game? Dam if it wasn't. I know I was barely hanging on watching it.

I'm glad you enjoyed that performance, if you didn't hate JJ so much you might have enjoyed the Arkansas game from last year
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT
J. Jefferson 17/25 179 10.5 2 1
practically identical numbers in a pressure packed, come from behind, SEC, in-conference game. but i'd bet if i looked through your post, you complained about JJ during that game too.

(LONG. NOT for the simple minded with short attention spans.)
Oh boy, here we go with this shite yet again.
In 2008, JL was a redshirt freshman that had only played high school football for two years and was forced to play WAY before he was ready. And he wasn't being asked to run a normal passing offense. Remember, The Wiz runs this BS "Read and React" passing game where both the QB and WR have to "Read" what the DB or LB is doing and "React/Adjust" the routes on the fly. It's nonsense to try and run this in college. Too complicated. Not enough practice time. Takes too much thinking.
So here comes inexperienced JL being thrown to the dogs by Crowton and being asked run this R and R crape' with his WR's. He already doesn't know how to read defenses, but now has to be in synch with his receivers. Learning the normal straight pre-set non adjustable routes is hard enough for a freshman, but Gary Baby has him trying to learn the R and R stuff. You saw the results. Picks. Pick 6's. What does Crowton do, he keeps calling passes to the middle of the field, making matters worse. Shot confidence. Deer in the headlights syndrome. Even with all that, the offense moved the ball and scored points in 2008.
Then instead of starting the kid in 2009 and letting him learn on the field and play through the mistakes (A la McCoy, Stafford and Bradford as freshmen)he pulls him and lets Jefferson run a low risk high school offense with no vertical passing game, no OL and no running game.
Here we are in 2010 and JL still gets no playing time, not even one or two series to keep the mental and physical rust off.
Jefferson looked "Improved" against UNC's 2nd and 3rd team defense, but "Improved" doesn't mean "Good" or "Great." I don't think he can process information quickly enough to ever be a championship caliber QB.
Not only that, but he is going to get killed if the RG and RT positions don't significantly improve over what we saw against UNC's 2nd and 3rd team.
At the very least, Lee needs some playing time with the ones before we get to the S.E.C. Meat just in case JJ goes down. I don't want the backup QB coming in totally stale. If you don't play, when you DO get a chance, you push and try to force things in trying to make a play, usually with bad results. Hope JL makes it happen if he gets a shot, but I think Crowton has probably ruined what could have been another Colt, Matt or Sam........
P.S. BOISE STATE

I imagine the plan might have been sooner if not for the fumble on opening 2nd half drive. (no link).
One screw up can change a lot of good intentions.

it is, LSU did in fact win that game. my point is, no one was giving JJ any accolades at all after that game it was a perfectly blah performace. despite that, it was better than any performance that JL has ever had in a real game. Auburn '08 was the high water mark of the JL era. a 50% completion performance in which he spotted the opposition his traditional 7 point gift. why oh why would you pine for that?

BandDude...I personally want to thank you for italicizing your posts. Many times I just read down through threads, not looking at the poster's name first. Since I know your posts by the italics, I can skip right past it, saving valuable time.
Thanks

(it looks to me when the pressure was on (second half) the offense stalled)
I thought crowton ran out of ideas !

Troy State? 142 yds in ONE qtr? Greatest comeback in all of LSU history? And that was after they dicked around with JJ for 3 series (1/6 and 5 yds)
How can anyone take you seriously?

It was actually a solid post. Definitely the only time I remember agreeing with TBA.

I am not a huge JJ fan at all. I have even stated that Lee should maybe see some snaps. But, as of now I see no reason to say that Lee should get a shot at the starting job. JJ played very efficiently on Saturday. If he starts playing poorly as the season progresses, then maybe we should give Lee a shot, but not right now.
You have to remember that we came out in the second half and went right down the field until we fumbled. Then you also have to remember that we had a TD called back for a phantom holding call.

Are they still justifying their hate of Lee over one interception in the Spring game that wasn't his fault?
