Game played or not- this storm will be no joke…will intensify quickly

It has went from a potential Cat 1 to a potential Cat 3 in less then 24 hours! This thing could blow up to a Cat 5 with as hot as the water is right now in the Gulf. News flash here, we have been under an extreme heat warning for how long now?

The roughest part of that is the fear it'll keep intensifying right up to landfall.

Hasn't even reached the Gulf yet.

Was gonna say, they just said it will be a Cat3, I’ve seen a number on here say they don’t think power will be an issue, but flooding? Will Orlando be ready for the game? I think it could be.

Orlando is predicted 2-3 inches of rain as of now.

That would be undercutting it by quite a but if the storm makes the slightest jog south and east

And what if it cuts north or west?

Then the game won’t be impacted. That’s why we are talking about it though, it could go either way. If you are so confident this storm has no impact it’s really easy to just ignore it and stay out of this thread

All I’ve said is as of now the forecast shows it won’t be a major event for the Orlando area. 48 hours out these tend to not shift all that much, though it could creep a bit one way or the other.

Generally agree but Idalia isn’t even in the gulf yet and look at what ian did last year. Two days before it was all in on Tampa Bay then hooked into western Florida and shifted south a good bit. Just need to keep an eye on it LINK

Yeah, there were significant changes all this morning already. Once in the gulf we will really know what it’s going to do. Either way it sucks

If a category 3 /4 hurricane hits around the Tallahassee area late Wednesday or early Thursday, this game will not be played on Sunday

I’m aware the game is in Orlando. Strong 3 / low cat 4 blows through Tallahassee mid week. How can a team prepare for a big game with no power / damage to housing , damage to campus facilities.

Where are you even seeing that this is a possibility?

I swear some of you act like this is both your first football season and first hurricane.

That’s hilarious, because it’s actually YOU who is acting like that. How anybody can live in or be associated with Louisiana and speak in such absolutes about what a storm will do is a fricking imbecile.

quote:

As of now Orlando won’t be impacted significantly enough to warrant serious conversation about altering the game

How are you too stupid to grasp this. It doesn’t have to hit Orlando to affect the game. Do you know how many people it takes to put on a game of this magnitude? All of the logistics that go into it? It could miss Orlando completely, but a lot of their resources could be sent to where it does hit to help in the aftermath. Companies will come in from all over to assist. And if the area that gets hit loses power, guess what? They can’t stay there—they very well may have to set up in Orlando and stay in their hotels, ousting fans coming in. The game can absolutely be affected even if Orlando doesn’t get a drop of rain.

quote:

Could that change? Sure, it could change. It could also end up completely missing Orlando altogether.

Exactly, we can’t know yet. And responsible adults are proactive and start discussing possible contingencies, even if the need for them looks slim. Better to have a plan and not need it than need a plan and not have it. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst? Have you somehow made it to adulthood without grasping these simple concepts?

quote:

The wishcast/doomcast crowd is exhausting

This is just fricking stupid. As a people that have been through many hurricanes, some devastating, I’d like to think we can empathize with what may be coming and hope it turns out to be a nothing burger. But even if that’s not the case for some, this is a huge game we’ve all been waiting a long time for, and we want to see it played, which may take moving it. Nobody wants it to be bad enough to be moved, we just want to be prepared in time in case it does.
