I am a UL and LSU fan. I don't see UL pulling this one off. They have talent with some young players, but the coach is horrible.

Oh yeah, because coaches NEVER talk up their opponents. Ever.

this game is gonna be a 15 pt win MINIMUM

Yeah, I guess you should just lump all of us Tiger fans together. I sat in Tiger Stadium for virtually every game during the Archer/Hallman/Dinardo days. I've probably missed 10-15 basketball games in the last 10 years.

. Once all of their players are healthy and they play to their potential I believe they are going to be a tourney team this year.
They better win the Sun Belt tourney, because that is there only chance at going to the NCAA tournament.

yet I would say less than .001% of you guys have ever played high school basketball or football much less college
I didn't play college ball, but I know plenty of good HS coaches that never played college ball. I've played against plenty of D-I players in my life, and I'm not sure playing college ball is a good barometer of how much you know about the game. I've know several former major D-I players that don't know the game of basketball.
quote:
When I played, there were multiple games where the game had to be stopped due to dumb drunks in the stands throwing crap on the court.
When did you play ball? I don't remember this happening on a regular basis. Like you said, EVERY school has their fair share of bad apples.

Come on, you have to be very familiar with "coach speak". I'll agree with TJ, ULL is better than their record indicates. However, nothing about this team screams they are NCAA tournament material. IF they ever get their entire team together, they will likely be pretty decent. Honestly, do you really expect TJ to talk them down?

Stro, the guy is obviously flaming the board. I mean, its obvious guys like me, you, cableguy, and coke are bandwagon fans. I waited my whole life for that 14 win season I sat through last year. Here's to a dominating win today

Robert Lee is a complete moron IMO. I've met him several times, and left the meeting very unimpressed.

Same school - different sport - same result... ULL gets beat LSU...
Posted on 12/31/08 at 11:22 am to Stromile Swift
Agreed, Robert Lee is in over his head. He often sounds confused in his press conferences. It is ashame what he has done to UL's program, because UL used to have some pretty decent teams at least making the NCAA or NIT.
Posted on 1/1/09 at 11:20 am to Saints1fan
OK...This should show you something you rantards and I emphasize "tards". You guys have no clue. A banged up ULL team came in hear. They couldn't hit a shot in the 1st half to save their lives. They turned the ball over constantly. LSU couldn't miss a shot in the 1st half. Bureau was playing injured...So was Gary and Barr...ULL came into our house and loss by 2 points. What a statement. Yet you guys laugh off the win. Regardless of what some of you idiots say, if ULL can stay healthy consistently, they are a Top 25 team. I'm not saying they are better than us, I'm just saying they have the talent now.
As far as you guys saying Robert Lee has really taken the program down. That may be the dumbest post I have seen on here. Granted, I am not a fan of their "no motion" offense, but he has bought in talent that plays hard and doesn't act like a bunch of thugs, unlike their old coach Jessie Evans. He would bring in everyone else's trouble makers. It was a fun and exciting game yesterday with good effort by both teams. Fact is LSU almost loss to ULL. There is no shame in that. ULL IS a good team. Stop bagging on LSU and start giving ULL credit. Admit it when you are wrong. Shows you what a bunch of couch potato, non-athletes know.

I played during the Dale Brown era. Towards the end when things were a little rough. LSU fans ran him out of the building. That was shameful by the way. One of the greatest ICONS in LSU sports history and LSU fans ran him off. He was at the game yesterday greeting everyone like the class act that he is.

Who got the W? That, my friend, is all that matters.
Posted on 1/1/09 at 11:27 am to Meursault
Actually, no, it is not all that matters. Read some of the ridiculous statements made up above in this thread. Just about 95% of the predictions were wrong. Has anyone come back on here to defend what was said. NO...Because that is how a couch potato coach does. Talks trash with absolutely no knowledge of the subject and doesn't return when proven extremely wrong.

I've been knowing that, and said that several pages ago in this thread. ULL is obviously a different team with Daigle and Bureau on the floor.

Regardless of what some of you idiots say, if ULL can stay healthy consistently, they are a Top 25 team.
So, are you saying LSU is a top 20 team? ULL hasn't beaten anyone, and the only way they sniff the NCAA tournament is by winning the Sun Belt tournament. They will win plenty of games down the stretch, but we both know they won't receive an at large bid with 10+ regular season losses.

I'm friends with plenty of ULL grads/fans, and none of them are overly impressed with Lee. If you think it's hard to listen to Miles, it's almost unberable to listen to Lee.

Fact is LSU almost loss to ULL
I guess you could say the same about Nicholls, Centenary, and Mcneese as well.
quote:
Admit it when you are wrong.
I guess you missed it earlier in the thread when I said I thought ULL was the 2nd best team in the state when healthy.
Back to the game, you do realize LSU was in control for the majority of the game? During the second half, ULL didn't even come within striking distance until Daigle made some incredibly plays down the stretch. Don't worry, we'll be tracking your Cajuns down the stretch and holding our breath until they crack the top 40.

I don't follow ULL basketball so I won't comment on Lee. However I will say ULL is, or at yesterday they were, an extremely undisciplined team.

Maybe not act like thugs but they sure as hell look like thugs. Hair in locks down to their arse. We don't allow players to look like that while representing this state.
the L is all that matters ULL is now what 4-8? Admit it ULL played very well yesterday because they played their championship game. If ULL could go 1-20 every year in basketball, 1-11 every year in football, as long as they beat LSU its season is a success.

I said top 25...Not saying that they will be voted as such with the rough start to the season. They have been hampered by health issues. They have the talent of a Top 25 ball club.

OK...This is just ridiculous. I know Coach Miles personally. One on one, without cameras, he comes across MUCH better than he does on TV...But if you are saying coach lee is worse when the camera's are on, you are ridiculous. Coach Miles may be the worse communicated when the spot lights are on than I have EVER seen. I love the man on a personal level, but the two can't compare.

Yeah they did...But this ULL team did it banged up all around. Also, 95% of the posts on this thread said how much ULL was going to get dominated.

I do realize how the flow of the game went. What I also realize is that ULL played intimidated in the first half. They also couldn't start the game with the best talent due to injuries. Daigle, Bureau, Gradnigo, Barr, and Johnston as a starting 5 ARE Top 25 talent when healthy. If they would have been healthy, ULL could have been MUCH more of a challenge. As a matter of fact, I think there would have been a good chance we would have lost this game in double digits.

Also, real classy on the name calling. I'll just bow our of this thread since you are obviously superior to the rest of us "tards". I'll be waiting for ULL to dominate the Sun Belt and earn their NCAA tourney birth.
